Hi, my daughter is 3.8 and I asked her what she would like as a christmas pressie if she could choose anything in the whole world. She had a think then said
"a new hair band". Her face lit up and she said a pink one, getting nore and more excited as she was imagining it.
I can't just buy her that though, I really have no idea. I love traditional things.
She already has a rocking horse, silver cross pram, dolls, steiff bear.
I've thought about a tea set.
She is very femenin and loves all things sparkely.

I'd like it to be somthing that she'll still play with years later, maybe somthing fun.
She has a dolls house too.

she sounds like she has an awful lot of stuff already - if all she wants is a hairband there's no point wasting cash or cluttering the house

there's a lovely enamelled tin teaset out there at the moment which won't break but is nicer than plastic - here it is

MrsBadger · 13/11/2008 14:32

NB if every christmas you try and get something she'll play with years later your house will be full by the time she is 11 and you will have to live in the shed

If there's nothing missing from the toy repertoire then really presents are about the moment the paper comes off, not 'forever'

NB has she a kitchen?

Pigstyle · 13/11/2008 14:34

My DD absolutely loves her wooden kitchen-and buying presents gets easier-I just buy more wooden food/accessories.

mummyloveslucy · 13/11/2008 14:39

Yes, she does have pretty much everything.
It's awkward as I always said "I'm not going to spoil her".
She is so greatfull for anything though.
The steiff bear I bought for her first birthday scares her. She's far happier with her toy violin that I bought for 50p at a car boot.

She preferes to help me in the real kitchen when we make cakes etc, she sets the table.
When it's just us too, she wants to be entertained by me. Only If she had a friend around, she would play with the toy kitchen.

I thought she'd play a lot with her dolls house, but she only plays with that if she has a friend around.

Would she like some arty/crafty stuff then? Or playmobil?

squeaver · 13/11/2008 14:48

Playmobil is a good idea for that age. My dd has the house (plus another wooden dolls house in her bedroom but she plays with the playmobil one more). She also has the garden centre and we're getting her the plane for Christmas.

The other thing we can never have enough of in our house is arts/crafts stuff. What about an easel?

mummyloveslucy · 13/11/2008 14:50

Yes, I think she's love arty/crafty things.

Something we can do together.
She likes dressing up too.

Great idea, an easel would be fab.

I'd also like something to display her art around the play room.

elc one

mummyloveslucy · 13/11/2008 14:54

Do you have any ideas where I could get a fab pink hairband? the more fussy the better really.

squeaver we seem to be on the same wavelength. Playmobil is funny, because it seems small but starts to take up an awful lot of room. Mine are 7 and 4 and between them have got the airport, plane, bus, bin lorry, various airporty bits, Polar expedition thing, house and lots of lttle bits and pieces. DD is getting an additional floor for the house for Christmas and another couple of room sets.

mummyloveslucy · 13/11/2008 14:56

Thanks, that's lovely.
