Does skin drying work? So wet person who dries in the summer = evaporation Could "prove" it by getting them to dab their arm with water, then wait for it to dry

yes! but that would be just another example of water evaporating... thanks anyway...

sweating to cool down (aint just water is it.... its excretion of salts etc as well (isnt it?)..... shows how evaporation causes cooling too..... (or dog panting and saliva evaporating)..... err, that's all.

perfume/aftershave - the alcohol evaporating

HeadFairy · 10/11/2008 20:34

Alcohol or is that too similar to the nail polish?

Dry ice? That might be a solid going very rapidly to gas (or are they just fine droplets causing the smokey effect?)

HeadFairy · 10/11/2008 20:35

According to wikipedia it's solid carbon dioxide which evaporates immediately to a gas without going through the liquid stage. Might confuse them perhaps?

Any kind of liquid you can smell must be evaporating - petrol is pretty smelly for example, or white spirit, or turps.

Dry ice sublimes, ie goes straight from solid to gas. The white mist you see is from water droplets, where water vapour in the air has condensed due to contact with the cold gas. It is most dramatic when you drop dry ice into water.
