Getting sticky lolly drips off light coloured rugs, any ideas?

Does anyone out there have any ideas on how to get dried on lolly drips out of a light coloured rug.

Lollies are not allowed in the room usually but when I was out DH let dd1 have one for a quiet lift.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Baby wipes can be pretty good - always found Pampers ones best for getting stains off clothes. Have you tried carpet shampoo or carpet stain remover - something like Vanish?

There's a spray carpet cleaner I found recently called "shock" which seems to work well.

SoupDragon · 26/02/2003 14:42

It's not called Shock at all - it's called Carpet Power, the Shock bit was something else entirely.

Dyson do a carpet cleaner called "Zorb". It works a bit like shake'n'vac. You sprinkle it on, work it in with a brush, and hoover it up when its dry. I was a bit sceptical at first, but its got some dried-in stains out of my non-washable jute flooring.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try them

Tissy, you have also answered another question, I have a very light jute carpet in out bedroom that could do with a clean so I'll go and try and find some of that stuff for the dyson

Do they still make DabItOff? Mmmmm, used to love that smell.

Where did you buy the Carpet Power, SoupDragon? I'm about to re-lay a living room carpet after some building work but I noticed a few nasty stains on it before it was put away. I'm hoping my steam cleaner will bring it back to life, but I'd like something strong for these stains of unknown origin!

It was either Tescos or Sainsburys - I can't actually remember which. It's in a white trigger bottle.

It did a good job on the dodgier bits of what is affectionately know as our "porno sofa" due to the number and variety of unidentifiable stains. (although check colour fastness)

Re: Dabitoff/Thawpit

I believe these are no longer available, and I am bereft, as I have used my last drop of Dabitoff. Fab for removing oil/grease stains from clothes, etc. Does anyone know if there is a similar product on the market, please? If so, what is it called, and where can I buy it? I live in Staffordshire.

Many thanks.
