ASDA Home Shopping - Anyone Else Tried It?

Chiccadum · 25/02/2003 20:37

Is anyone else out there a fan of buying their groceries on the internet? I have only been in a supermarket twice in the last 9 months and can't really say that I have missed all the hustle and bustle.

I've been shopping now on-line with ASDA and the service has been brilliant, if anything is damaged (only happened twice to eggs) they are very quick to refund.

As someone who despises any form of shopping whether it be clothes, food or furniture I just wondered if any other mums had tried it and what they though?

Its brill. I have had the off hiccup but nothing compared to the idea of trailing round the shop every week. The two hour slots always kept to (although occasionally ring up to see if they can come early - fine if DH is home from work, otherwise we're not in and they have to wait). It was a bit of a trial at first because the website was a bit slow but now its fine. Popularity does seem to be increasing though and I have to book early to get my preferred Thurs evening slot.

DS loves it too. He gets soooo excited when the "lorry" arrives at his house every week. Then he makes a great performance of helping to unpack.

I had a completely disasterous shop with ASDA - only half the shopping arrived then took many many phone calls to discover that no they had lost the other half and yes they would refund what hadn't turned up.

Use Tescos home delivery and am very happy with their service. On the odd occasion there has been a problem it's been cleared up very quickly. Used Sainsburys a lot too but switched after a spate of rather bizarre substitutions.

Ooooh, don't get me started on Tesco's home shopping again...

Chiccadum · 25/02/2003 20:57

I must admit that Tesco's has never really taken my fancy, a few friends have said that they are no good, one of dh's colleagues placed an order and it was 5 days late and they had previously cancelled, other friends have said that the goods are not up to standard.

Though I am very happy with ASDA I too have stopped getting substitutions after having some really weird ones.

You've reminded me of the weird substitution I got, I ordered some spring onions and got a lemon, where they got that from I'll never know.

every-time I try waitrose it just freezes...thats the screen not the food! I like Tesco, things have improved a lot .perhaps its just a bit pot luck who picks for you.

I use Iceland for my weekly shop (its free delivery if you spend more than £40) and people I talk to are often surprised they sell lots of fresh food too. I have never been able to try ASDA as out of their zone. Had a few hit and misses with Tesco and Sainsburys, never had one complaint with iceland so keep returning.

I think the ordering/website side of Asda has improved significantly since they first started Batters. The only gripe I have is that I used to prefer it when all "my Favourites" appeared on one long list rather than having to click on each aisle of favourites. Agree that the selection/delivery can vary between stores and drivers. There is one driver I know to watch. He tends to ring up before he delivers though so if I problems I 1471 and get directly back to him rather than through the official channels.
