right dont want to go into a rant about stuff but am a bit depressed at the moment and although it sounds insane , if my husband doesnt move his fat arse from the computer or telly at the weekend and do SOMETHING i will seriously cause him damage, as its safe to say i am very psychologically unstable at the moment and am not kidding

money is big issue in said insane state and so has anyone got any suggestions of stuff to do for free on a saturday?
done the beach to death ( never thought i would complain about that!)
and although am sure walking on the downs is lovley and i might give it a go once - it sounds boring. museums with kids who are 10 and 13 dont usually work unless they are interactive - which usually means money

suggestions welcome

thanks

custardo, might be useless but I found this Free Days Out , and this childrens directory which has an ideas section but I haven't looked at it so they may not be relevant. Will post again if I think of anything.

you might like to try www.daysoutatlas.co.uk and then just select the area you are interested in.

When I think of the worthing/brighton area (or indeed most seaside towns) I think, lots to do but not much that's free if it's too cold for the beach. We love going down that way, custardo, but only when feeling rich. So I can see where you're coming from. So much temptation and the children asking why can't we do that, buy this etc.

Do your children go to cubs or brownies? for a small enrolment fee (not payable all at once and reductions for more than one sibling) you get lots of free or almost free activites at weekends. My ds was off cake decorating this weekend and a couple of weeks ago he enjoyed a quiz afternoon. At this cold, grey time of year, his cub activites are a real blessing.

how about taking a kite up to the downs?

I used to live in Brighton and I'm sure I can think of something but it's evading me right now...

Custy- hope things get better soon, hon. Why don't you hitchhike to London for a free weekend with me and leave bad husband to entertain the kids?

custardo, Brighton Museum and Art Gallery is free and quite interesting for children. Hastings has a Fishermen's Museum which is free and then you can climb hundreds of steps up to the East Hill and fly a kite and have spectacular sea views.

Apparently Brighton has a lovely old train station that is really useful for catching lovely old Virgin trains to see one's bessie mate! You never know, some anonymous benefactor might even pay for the train journey - so it would be free as well!!!

Camber Sands out of season is great for running about on and is free to park at this time of year.
