Childrens car seats

I am trying to find a car seat that my two year old can travel in safely. The problem is three children, two three point seat belts and one lap belt. Which one gets to travel with only a lap belt? Does anyone know of a car seat with harness type straps which can be securred into the back seat with only a lap belt? The seat I'm using at present can be but he has almost outgrown it. I've checked the reviews of car seats and some can be used with lapbelts but that is all that is holding the child in. Do other people consider these safe enough? I've read reports of children ending up paralised in accidents because they were wearing only lap belts.

Thanks Suew for that info. I managed to track down their number and if anyone else is having the same problem the number is:01908 2202909. I also discovered that QuickFit will replace lap belts with the three point seatbelt.

binza, there are 2-part seats made of polystyrene, where the seat itself is quite high-backed (lots of middle seats don't have a headrest either) and there is a kind of flat-topped bolster which sits on the child's lap and the lap belt goes through it.
i have a fairly old one - i got it 2nd-hand and unfortunately it doesn't have a brand on it - but i have seen them in mail-order catalogues.
the high back also has side pieces for them to lean against...i used it up to age 4-5, it's really useful!
i will have a look through the catalogues i have and if i find one i will let you know!

there is one in the littlewoods/index catalogue. 33 quid. (it says it needs a 3-point belt but it really doesn't).

if you're getting a 3-point-belt anyway it doesn't matter, but if there's any likelihood of you getting a newer car by the time your 2-yr-old hits 4 or 5 it could save you a few quid!

we have a maxi-cosi seat which can be used with a three point or a lap belt. There seem to be quite a few seats that can be because the shop I bought it from asked if it was a three or five door car (some are fiddly to put in the back) and whether we wanted to use it with a lap belt. If you phon ekiddicare (www.kiddicare.com) they'd be able to tell you any more
