the reason why the need for a girl is so srong is because there has not been a girl in our family for over 23y, i have 8 db no sisters, and i have (as you know) 2 ds. i dont want to become pg just yet as 1 ds is only 7m and i really want to enjoy him first, i just want to up the chances.

There are no proven ways to select the sex of your child. When I was pg, I did loads of internet tests, and each one told me that I was having a girl. I kept seeing three magpies, and even had a moment of clarity in the shower, when I became convinced that I was carrying a girl! As a result, I did not spend too much time on choosing a boy's name, and it was a bit of a panic when we realised that we had a boy, and the mid-wife wanted to write his name on the birth label! It all seems mad now, that's hormones for you I guess. Dh says that he is never believing in women's intuition again! I managed to almost convince the most cynical man on the planet that I 'knew' the sex of our baby!

Anyway, if you have another child, I would say have it because you want another child, not because you want a girl. It would be horrible to be disappointed in the birth of a son when it is really a gift.

Tortington · 09/02/2003 23:19

mears · 10/02/2003 00:21

That Chinese chart is a bit spooky - it is correct for all 4 of mine - 3 boys and a girl!!!

Honeybunnie · 10/02/2003 01:40

WONG for me

Holly02 · 10/02/2003 01:54

WONG for me too Honeybunny - I had a boy and the chart says 'F'.

Guess two wongs don't make a right

Honeybunnie · 10/02/2003 02:00

Hi Holly02,

Your still awake at this hour? Me too

How is it being a mum, my dd is my first and I am afraid to say I am spoiling her, even though I try not to....loved your joke.

Holly02 · 10/02/2003 03:03

Sorry Honeybunnie, spelt your name wrong. I'm not actually up late, I'm on the other side of the world!!

I also have only one ds and I have to say he gets lots of love & attention, so I guess he's a wee bit spoilt too. My mum was watching me with him the other day and she said "It's such a shame you've only got one child because you're going to pour everything you've got into him. It's going to be hard for you when he grows up and becomes more independent". I guess so, but hey, if he's a happy child then that's the main thing. They're so precious aren't they.

The chinese chart predicted correctly for both my boys and this time it says I'll have a girl. However going by the ovulation dates and speed the sperm swins(explained earlier in this thread) it should be that we have another boy. I have to admit that before I was PG I really wanted a girl but now the morning sickness/tiredness is doing its worst I really don't mind what we have, infact I had a dream that we had another boy and I was over the moon about it. Not that dreams are a good predicter!

sliverx2 · 10/02/2003 07:55

i just would like to thank you all for doing the chart!!!!!!!!!!

Jaybee · 10/02/2003 10:37

One right - one wrong - says I should have 2 dds but in fact have one of each.

Bumblelion · 10/02/2003 10:42

Just checked my chart - correct on all three counts.

Enid · 10/02/2003 11:35

custardo

Tarn · 10/02/2003 12:13

Right for two of mine, but not very good for boy/girl twins!!!

mum2toby · 10/02/2003 12:34

Wrong! it said i've got a girl.

susanmt · 10/02/2003 14:05

Ssid I should have had girls both times when in fact I had a girl then a boy!

Cha · 10/02/2003 16:07

Silverx2 - just in case you were wondering if there were any more tips for having girls - my parents (both medical) did this to have my sister and it worked. My mum also told a friend (with 3 boys already and wanting a girl) and it worked for him too. Not terribly scientific but worth a go!
Here's what you do. Going on the sciency bit that sb34 put, 'girl' sperms survive longer and are stronger than 'boy' sperms. What you do is get your man to come first but not inside you (however you want to achieve this is up to you...) As soon as he can get it up again, have intercourse. The first ejaculate is full of 'fresh' sperm which is a mix of boys and girls. The second ejaculate (from the bottom of the sac??) has a higher number of girl sperms as they live longer. This is the theory anyway.
However, if there are a lot of boys on your dp's side of the family, chances are he's got a genetically higher number of boy sperm anyway. Apparantly Henry VIII had the opposite problem.
Good luck anyway - am off to try the website predictor thingy.

Cha · 10/02/2003 16:37

Just done the gender predictor - got it right for my dd and according to the chart I am expecting a boy. Which would explain the how many times I see four magpies when I am in the park... Will have to report back in 6 months time.

Cha · 10/02/2003 16:41

Ooops. That's what being pregnant does for you brain cells.

Chinchilla · 10/02/2003 19:13

Funny this - I found another predictor site that is very similar, and this time it correctly said I would have a boy! Spooky! See this

megg · 10/02/2003 19:13

Totally wrong for me unless there's something I don't know about my ds.

janh · 10/02/2003 19:35

There are 2 Chinese charts. I have 4 kids - one of the charts got them all right, the other got them all wrong!

janh · 10/02/2003 19:36

And reading custardo's comment makes me think - how can they work when you have mixed twins? Eh? Eh?
