Blackadder the Third is too late - more Madame de Pompadour

Think of Dr Who - the Girl in the Fireplace -the scene where DT reads her mind....

slayerette · 21/08/2008 16:06

Jane Austen styles all too late, I would think. Is this page helpful?

Madness of King George is one of my favourite films, but 1731 is George II. Was he not the one who was married to Caroline who people compare to Princess Di?

Wow! Are you patient enough to whip up a crinoline? Wouldn't that require the assistance of an 18th century seamstress?

Habbibu · 21/08/2008 16:09

Yes - just checked - film is around 1788, but as George III came to the throne in 1738 I'd thought it might be good. Yes - he did marry a Caroline - this is she

Washing basket with hole cut in bottom and "braces" over shoulders? Something from garden centre?

RustyBear · 21/08/2008 16:10

Can't find a full length picture but never mind, it's got DT, so who cares...

MrsSprat · 21/08/2008 16:11

She needs a lacy hanky to wave feyly in distress!

twinsetandpearls · 21/08/2008 16:24

I did once make a Christmas tree from pipe lagging and organza.

I am so annoyed that I have just given away all of dd disney stuff as I am sure I could have adapted a disney dress.

I care rusty, I care!
She has a lacy hanky and though about some smelling salts!

Actually pipe lagging would probably be quite good for a crinoline - nice & light & easily shaped, and you can sew into it....

twinsetandpearls · 21/08/2008 16:29

Pip lagging is much underrated in my opinion! It is hard work sewing into it though.

Dp wants me to buy something, he said it ends up costing more when I make it and is far too stressful
