We use our local charity shop like a library, buy books then take them back.

It stops the house getting even more full of clutter.

Scholastic Books are good but I think you can only do it via school/nursery/playgroup, I don't think individuals can order but it might be worth seeing if your local playgroup run a club. There's no obligation to buy and they do some really good reductions especially on boxed sets.
