How much does it cost to fly a dog?

My mum wants to bring one of her dogs back to the UK from Italy - does anyone know roughly how much it costs to bring a dog back on the plane?

my brother flew his dog back from Florida. The human flights were £280, the dog's was £800 !!
Brother thought dog had been upgraded to club class....

I have a vision of said dog sipping champagne and reading his FT in the front of the plane, complete with sunglasses of course.

One of our cats from Ireland was £45 on AerLingus. That was 1998 though but airfares were similar prices to now.

We flew a dog and two cats from the States, and it was breathlessly expensive!!! But our dog is quite heavy, and they usually charge by weight. I would suggest that you look at the web sites of various airlines, they usually post info about costs on there. Also, the quarantine thing has been lifted, but not sure that your mum would have to do that from within the EU anyway.

P.S. Your mum could just have my dog, instead.

she's trying to get rid of dogs, not add more! She's got 2 at the moment and realises it was a mistake ... a friend of hers (in England) wants to have one of them, but I doubt she'd be prepared to pay astronomical sums to have him transported back. She doesn't want to send him to an italian dogs' home because she fears the pampered pooch will end up chained outside a farm somewhere

Yep she knows all about the documentation and vaccs n stuff, she just doesn't know how much it costs to transport him. I've got a number from the BA website, so I'll give them a call - ta all
