Did you get a Valentine card from your child?

I got a Valentine from ds1. He's 6. I knew it was coming (he's crap at keeping secrets!) and I wasn't very comfortable with it, but am even less happy now I've seen that it says "from your secret admirer". He made this at school - is it just me that doesn't think this is appropriate? He made one last year when he was in reception and before at pre-school, but he's 6 now and I rather thought they wouldn't do it any more. Am I over-reacting or does anyone else think this is odd?

my ds (8) sat and made mine a few weeks ago. Its pink and has pom poms and feathers all around the outside, and a "foam shape man" in the middle. Also covered in glitter and sequins and its not a VDay card - its a "Love Card" - i bought each of my children a card (2 pack from M&S - £2)

I got one from my DS's, they wanted to join in when they saw DH and I exchanging cards.
They have also bought DH a chocolate Bunny that we saw while out shopping today.
I think it's sweet, but I also got used to getting one as a child, from my American Auntie, who used to send them to everyone.

DS made one and wrote Mummy and Daddy and our 2 cats.

He made it this morning and it is lovely

DS made one for his Daddy. WE just said it's a day for sending cards to tell people you love them.
He calls it a Valen Time, like Christmas time!

My parents always made Valentine's Day out to be for special people you love - would make special food (heart-shaped toast, or a posh dessert) or there'd be something special on the breakfast table (like a little felt stuffed heart).

I'm not arty so my kids got little stuffed animals from Tescos this morning, while dh got a card and a chocolate heart. Not big things but tokens of how much I love them. I think it's a nice tradition involving the whole family and it's something I'd like to keep up. Although once they're both at school I will try and be more arty and less reliant on commercial stuff
