Crocs -I know I am behind the times - are they nice or nasty?

My kids have crocs and I have always avoided them for myself until I found two friends who I wouldn't have dreamt to have had them wearing a pair (each!). I've ordered a chocolate pair of real crocs (£19) but am still not sure. Apparently they are v comfortable and soften your feet. I am going to France and thought that they would be good to travel in....

besides, it's the crocs, not the 4x4's that destroy the ozone

mosschops30 · 28/07/2008 18:51

I adore them, have two different colours (fairly respectable not bright yellow or anything).
Wore them all day yesterday 9 hours in Alton Towers and were great especially on the water rides.

I also wear them for work, doing 12 hour shifts in crap shoes is no fun

piratecat · 28/07/2008 18:56

barfing as I type here.

RealityGap · 28/07/2008 18:56

jelly shoes anyone - oooh and the matching bags........now there was a hideous fashion crime

I have never been a croc fan - but live and let live

candyfluff · 28/07/2008 19:55

i cant stand croc's they look like supped up jelly shoes that we used to wear as kids in the 80's

halogen · 28/07/2008 22:18

Men should definitely not wear crocs. I wear turquoise ones, though. I have no shame.

peachygirl · 28/07/2008 22:23

I love mine ! I have two pairs a burgundy pair - smartish to wear with linen trousers for work and a pink pair which I wear at home.

I agree that the garish colours are not for men! I tend to look at them and think 'what made you choose those?'

Dh has a pair but they are black and he mainly wears them to the postbox and to mow the lawn.

quickdrawmcgraw · 28/07/2008 22:24

I have a black pair which I wear around the house and I have been known to walk the dog in them.
I'm always apologising like mad though if I forget to take them off to do the school run. Why should I care though? I couldn't give a flying shite what anyone wears on their feet, unless of course they are an adult in crocs and have got Gibbits in them. That is a hanging offence.

I saw a chiropodist wearing some the other day and she thinks they're great - that convinced me. DS2 is hardly out of his and I wore mine for the first time yesterday in the garden around the paddling pool - can see why they are so popular

Madlentileater · 28/07/2008 22:30

can someone tell me if the imitation crocs are as good? Just need them for slipping on to go down the garden- a fiver would be OK but am too mean to spend even a fiver if they are rubbish.

Tommy · 28/07/2008 22:45

my chiropodist reckoned it didn't matter what make you had.

Hope not - mine were two quid from Shoe Zone...

Madlentileater · 28/07/2008 23:17

aha! a chiropodist! (impressed)
will rush to the market tomorrow with £5.
Did they express an opinion as to colour?
and yours are OK?

brimfull · 28/07/2008 23:36

I am a nurse and wear them for work as they're the only thing that's comfy enough.(night duty so not many people see me)
I have to wear socks with them as they make my feet sweat so much (you can't tell as I'm wearing trousers)

How can people wear them without socks.

I wouldn't dream of wearing them out in public.

Tommy · 29/07/2008 08:42

mine are fine but haven't worn them a lot and for a very long time. I'd wear them to walk to school if it was raining and around a camp site or something

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 29/07/2008 08:46

Love my crocs.

Will not wear any other shoe.

Even in winter

Down with all this shoe snobbery.

tut.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 29/07/2008 08:48

And I wear Jibbitz too.

As does my 59 year old dm.

so there

quickdrawmcgraw · 29/07/2008 18:41

you'd better run WTWTW! noose is swinging!

megcleary · 29/07/2008 19:07

They are evil i tells ya

I detest them DH has a pair and i keep threatening to chuck them out.

toobusymum · 29/07/2008 22:09

Madlentileater - dont' wear them for gardening! The soil derops throught the holes and makes your feet feel all yucky
