Question about degrees.

I have been told that even if your overall grade for your degree is a 2.2 you will still graduate with a 2.1, if you got mostly 2.1s in your module results, OR if your 2.2s are all really high?

Is this an urban legend? Am I kidding myself into thinking I can get that 2.1 when my average mark is currently 59.3 (60 is a 2.1).

And am I really odd for freaking out about finishing my degree, and worrying about graduating. I am not convinced that I know enough about English to get some letters after my name!!!

Thanks x

I know - my brother is fab at what he does! He's some form of software engineer - not sure exactly, but he works all over the world and does a lot of stuff for gas/oil compaies as well. On one exam, he got a question wrong according to the lecturer - but then when they went through it together, lecturer discovered my brother's answer was actaually the right one after all and his was wrong! He is very dedicated and puts 110% into stuff like this - I think he does so to counterbalance the fact that he has always been quite shy and reserved (ot so much now but back then). He was born with a hare lip and cleft palate and endured bully throughout school. Days after getting his results he had to go into hospital for his final major operation - left his with his face and jaws wired up an unable to eat for weeks and weeks. It was put back so that he could complete his course.

More than 20 yrs later I'm still bitter and twisted about not getting a 2.1. Apparently I got 4 x 2.1 elements and 5 x 2.2 elements so overall mark was a 2.2.

The fact that my father was terminally ill and died in my 2nd yr didn't seem to make a difference, nor the fact that I had glandular fever and took months to get over it.

Oh well, now I'm a SAHM - don't need a degree for that
