Morning wenches.

Not too sure of power situation for LovelyMIL. I’m just relieved she had somewhere to go.

Ironing’s done, washing machine about to beep. Not enjoying this weather at all, although everything still seems to be standing, at least the bits I can see.

Have great days wenches.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 25/10/2026 12:27

Hi wenches 😊

Quite windy outside to say the least. Slept in quite late tody and plan to do F all for most of the day. Visited mum yesterday so lots of driving so was quite tired when I got home yesterday.
But I love driving and listening to the radio on full blast and then looking up the radio stations playlists for good songs. Been listening to "Draw you out" by Noah Kahan on repeat since yesterday. Never heard of him before.

Not much going on, trying to clear out some stuff which goes slowly. Hedvig is adorable all the time as usual 😍

I got the travelbug again and booked a trip to Edinburgh next year in spring. I might need to verify M&S there about stocking up on shortbread and biscuits Grin

I'm with you on waking up to pee late in the morning, one time i considered setting the alarm at around 3 o'clock to pee so I would be able to go back to sleep 😂

Holed up in a B&B sounds fantastic Helen Smile

Hope your eye thing is better Letus.

Oh no at Poundland closing Apes.

Hope all is well with TCFNAC Fancy,

Afternoon. A much sunnier day today, but still windy. Lots of rain yesterday and Friday, and a few trees down locally - had to swerve to avoid a big fallen branch on Friday and on Thursday something hit my windscreen while driving home in the dark - couldn't see what it was, but sounded like a bird 😞 Lurgy had mostly gone early in the week, but still feel like headaches are lurking round the corner.

Has everyone else managed to avoid being blown away or washed away? And do your family have their power back letus? I'm feeling lucky we've been spared the really bad stuff here.

ApricotCrush · 25/10/2026 16:14

Afternoon. Shocking weather. A caravan is not the best place to be in 50mph winds. The bed was shaking all night <aniagw>. It’s calmed down a bit now but still windy.

Hope LovelyMIL’s power has been restored LetUs.

Sounds like a nice day, driving and visiting WW. Yay for visit to Edinburgh next year.

That sounds scary Fancy. We’re coming back tomorrow and are a bit apprehensive about fallen trees.

Hope Helen’s okay.

Evening wenches.

Feck all is an excellent plan for a day Wicked. If there’s one thing they won’t be short of in Edinburgh it’s shortbread 😁. In fact, I’d take an empty case with you to take full advantage.

Something hitting the windscreen in the dark sounds proper scary. Hope any headaches stay away.

Windy weather in a caravan sounds the opposite of fun. 🤞🏻for uneventful journey home.

LovelyMIL’s power has been restored. The workers having to be out in the still shitty weather are doing a fantastic job in getting things sorted for people.

I’ve finished a doll’s dress and have started on another outfit for it. Once that’s done, I’m going to make myself finish the other projects - or at least made decent headway with them - before I start anything else. Difficulty with one of them is that it’s quite dark yarn so that’s tricky to do when the natural light’s gone. Did bath’n’book and am carrying on with the book because I’ve almost finished and I really want to know what happens!

Evening all. My room is up in the roof this weekend, and blimey - the noise of the wind last night! DH says there were various branches down around home yesterday. I have spent today tramping around the campus at my University with a friend, reminiscing and being old gimmers - "I remember when all this was playing fields" and "WTF have they done with the Students Union building?!" Then came back and finished the binge watch of 'Legends' on Netflix, which was good.

Fortunately very little rain today, but loads of wind. Unfortunately I think we're driving home tomorrow with the next wave of bad weather, which is bad planning (fist bump with apricot for being travel twins!) May get some new wiper blades before I head home.

Ho hum. At least I haven't been shaken about in a caravan!

Glad to hear that MIL has power again LetUs, and hurrah for finishing one project! Also hope that Fancy's headaches haven't materialised, and that Wicked has managed a successful day of feck all Grin

Morning wenches.

Was just nodding off after having woken at 4 when a thought popped into my head re DS2 buying his bus ticket for this week. Usually buys a month ticket but only got a week last time. He’s off next week anyway so just needs it for this week - <sends everywench back to sleep> - and yes he should remember to do this stuff himself and no I’m not helping by reminding him but there we are. For more excitement, I shall be painting a wall so we can watch it dry.

Wind has finally dropped here. Lots of rain due soon though.

Sounds like your room could have ended up spinning about and flying off over the tops of your old university Helen. Safe travels today.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · Yesterday 08:25

Morning all. Dreich out there this morning, though the actual observed weather doesn't look as wet as the forecast was.

The thing is LetUs, if you don't remember that he needs a bus ticket, he won't, and then there's be a massive stop about not having a ticket and it will, of course, be your fault. <sigh> I 100% share your pain. Sad
Safe travels to Apricot (and me), hope everywench has a good day and Wicked can listen to music on repeat while she works!

Evening wenches. We got back earlier after a miserable journey with much rain and traffic hold-ups for absolutely no reason. It’s daaaarrrk, and the house is so cold. Central heating has gone on but it takes ages to warm up.

Good luck with finishing your projects LetUs. I ought to have a sort out. I’ve started to undo another jumper I made years ago which was always too big and I don’t like the pattern placement so I’m going to reuse the yarn for a different one. Good that LovelyMIL’s power is back.

Glad you got to watch Legends Helen, it was good. Hope you’ve got home safely.

Evening all. Also quite a miserable trip home, but DS managed fine. We had one diversion via some backroads in 'country estate' land, and then another down rural roads where DS drove perfectly safely, but it did feel like we were rally driving Confused So we managed to avoid congestion in two patches - one of which turned into a full on road closure while we were busy avoiding it.

We tried to buy new wiper blades, but the YouTube videos on how to replace it were completely not working for my blades which seem to have been stuck on with superglue. We drove home with a slightly smeary windscreen on the upswing.

Hope all other wenches are safely home and not blown/washed away!

Evening wenches.

Phew for wenches being back home safe and sound.

DS2 had remembered about his ticket but only needs three days of travel so it makes more sense to just pay each day on the bus. “God mum, I’m not stupid you know”. But absolutely it would have been my fault.

Ah YouTube videos. Most of the time they’re a fantastic help (DIY, knitting and crochet etc) but sometimes it’s a case of yep that looks simple enough and it very much isn’t. Piping buttercream icing onto cupcakes springs to mind.

Well done to MiniHelen ⭐️

So much for finishing projects. I’ve started another two, although they are for dolls so shouldn’t take long.

Morning wenches.

Awake from 5 which seems to be the norm for me now. Ah well could be worse, could be 3!

Enjoying the half term lack of traffic, particularly on the way home 😁

Have super days wenches.

ApricotCrush · Today 17:36

Afternoon. Nice day, not cold and still windy which was good for the mountain of washing I've brought back from the caravan.

I did a Sainsbury shop this morning, and this afternoon we had a surprise visit from DD and DGS who is on half-term. I swear he grows taller every time we see him, he's taller than all of us now. Hmm

I need new wiper blades, I've got an MOT coming up next month, but that's DH's department.

Hope eveyone's had a good day.

FFS - I wrote this this morning...

Morning all. FML. DS had a sore throat last night, and slight temperature when he went to bed. Then a high temperature and aching all over at 5am. Poor boy, obvs, but also ARGH! - I have plans virtually every evening this week, and into the weekend, and I can't imagine how I wont get this (in the car together for 4 hours yesterday). <siiiiiiiiiiigh> I wonder if a flu jab today will give my body a head-start at dealing with something I probably already have. And I suppose worth doing anyway in case by some weird miracle I don't get it. I'm paranoid now. Is my chest tight? Am I feeling ok? etc.

In other news, it's tipping down. I'm going to have to go out and feed animals regardless.

DS is still feeling rough, but not curled-up-in-bed rough, so that's good. I've cancelled tomorrow's plans and we'll see how we get on! It also stopped raining, which was greatly appreciated by the kittens.

How lovey to have a surprise visit Apricot Grin That sort of surprise is a good one.

LetUsPrey · Today 20:49

Evening wenches.

How nice to have a surprise visit Apricot. I’ve been the shortest one at home for a while now. I think DS2 has stopped growing now though.

Poor MiniHelen, that sounds awful. Everything crossed you don’t come down with it Helen and MiniHelen recovers quickly.

Work was urgh. I’m watching a programme about Scottish islands and thinking how peaceful it all looks. I’m aware of the realities but I’d still give it a try.
