Almost forgot - if anyone has rellies who came to the Australian states of Victoria, NSW or Western Australia I am happy to do lookups of records for you (mostly early, ie up to 1905, but I have deaths in Victoria up to 1985, births up to 1921 and marriages up to 1942)

1400something for dh's 1860s for mine. Dhs threw up all sorts of interesting facts, bigamous marrages, unwed mothers, the american civil war, gettingthrown out of poland chased but the russians, a polish count who married the daughter of a lithuanian gambler (My engagement ring is part of his winnings). It is fab, and one day I'm going to write it into a big 'Bonk' buster book and make my fortune!

if you have uk ancestors and are looking in the 1871-1901 period then it is worth subscribing to ancestry.co.uk for 3 months (probably won't need more than that) - they have all the census returns for that period. Also another useful site is freebmd - they are slowly transcribing the birth marriage and death indexes from 1837.
