As I have read doctors say that there shouldn't be any reason for children to be more carsick RF. There could be lots of reasons for children throwing up in the car(other than motionsickness).

But there is some children who has no choice and must sit FF because of different medical reasons. But if one can RF is to prefer

But I wouldn't be able to see what they were doing at all if they were sitting rear facing and I'm in the front.

I get travel sick if I face anything other then forwards.

where do they put their legs?

MissHH · 24/06/2008 09:56

They have them bent or between their car seat and the back seat.

You can see your kids in the back with mirrors made for RF kids:

I know kids who have RF beyond 120 cm, so it is possible for very tall kids. Bent legs are usually not painful for the kids nor is it dangerous, but sadly that is a common myth:

My son is 95 cm long and he sits RF in the backseat of our VW Golf.

It is very important to remember that kids is not little adults.

This made it to the 21 o'clock news in Norway. It was said that they want to forbid forward facing car seats.

What is important to remember about proper RF Group 1 seats is that they are made for children within this weight limit. They cater for the legs, the view and so on. Children in Sweden sit rear facing as standard, and have done so for many years now. It does not make more children car sick, nor does it make them uncomfortable to bend their legs (and if it did, rest assured that they would tell you!)

I think that the ANEC report is very interesting. The fact that they take the conclusion as far as saying that they would like to see forward facing seats phased out over a few years, and actually ban manufacturers from making them, is a very bold statement.
I think that our children will look back at their childhood and say "I can't believe you kept us FF in the car. Did you not know how dangerous that is?"

PussinWellies · 27/06/2008 11:23

Hmm. We'd need a bigger car. DH has his seat so far back (he's 6ft8) that there's barely room for more than a skinny child leg behind him, let alone a rear-facing seat. How would the RF rules cope with that sort of problem?

(And we have 3 kids, so someone has to go behind him!)
