Hello.
first time posting.
i need some reassurance. My baby is nearly 5 months and has hugely decreased his feeds it’s really getting me down.
he is formula fed and isn’t the biggest boy. He just either rejects the bottle or doesn’t finish. im worried can anyone reassure me ?

Is this new behaviour? The advice used to be that you should pace feed and there should always be milk left and they should control how much they take and if the finish the bottle you should offer more. Has it changed?

My youngest son did this. Can’t quite remember the time frame or actual age but know he weighed less at 7/8months than he did at 3. Think it’s fair to say he didn’t like milk, never once finished a bottle. He wasn’t particularly fussed by food either. Was sent to see a paediatrician, who looked at my shiny eyed, healthy but very slim baby and said not to worry. He was obviously well. I wouldn’t worry unless he’s particularly unsettled or doesn’t look well,

Well if this is true then it gives me reassurance however my HV said he should be taking 30-32 oz daily and he doesn’t reach this. Ever.

He has been seen by a GP who was not worried. I don’t think he’s that keen on milk tbh.
I am however worried the health visitor has claimed he should be taking 30/32 oz of milk daily he rarely gets 28z it’s been more like 25 recently

It’s more important that he is following his growth line than the amount of milk he has. What centile was he born on and what centile is he on now?

That is perfect then. No need to worry!

If he does finish his bottle you should offer more and just be aware if he starting taking less than usual it could be teething pain.
