Play room for a 3 year old, any ideas ?

We are doing up our daughters play room at the moment and would love one of those book units that you see in libruarys. They are the ones that are like a box on legs that you can flick the books in.
Or any other book case that is easy for her to use herself. I've seen one that goes against the wall with the alphabet on it but that is very expensive.
I'd also be very greatful for any ideas for a play room. She is 3.5. Thanks

There's a book case in somewhere like GLTC that lets you put the books face out - I'll have a look and see (although I'm not sure that is quite what you mean).

Think Letterbox do them.

Here's one bookshelf and here's another.

GLTC do lots of nice looking storage items - generally out of my budget though...

the sling book storage are good and my 2 year old uses his easily. We got ours from amazon in primary colours but I don't see it on there now, so no link!

paint one wall or section of a wall with blackboard paint and let her chalk on it

one thing I thought of the other day which i think would be completely marvellous if you have plenty of money is to fit a corner bath and let them do lots of messy things in it

there is a book case in Argos like the one you describe I think - hold on

FrannyandZooey · 20/06/2008 18:42

ah well this one has a section for books

mummyloveslucy · 20/06/2008 18:55

Thanks everyone. I really like those book cases.

Thanks FrannyandZooey but she has a LOT of books.

I like the black board idea. She's used our walls many times for her little masterpieces.

these are the suppliers we use at work and therefore have the bookcases you are talking about. Quickly looked and think you can place an order despite not being a library/company.

Admittedly haven't looked at prices

There is a company called costcutters.uk that is one of the cheapest for classroom furniture, we used to order a lot from them when I was working in a school.

I ordered a classroom table and proper child sized chairs for our brood to eat at in the kitchen. Plays hell with DH's and my knees but kids use of a knife and fork improved immediately.
