IMO newborns look a bit silly in proper clothes...

I do have some very cute floral babygros with frilly bits on the bum. Will that do?!

Dress, frilly knickers to cover nappy, hat, shoes

lackaDAISYcal · 19/06/2008 14:00

we went to a weddding last summer when DD was four weeks old. She wore a romper suit type thing with a vest underneath and looked cute as a button imo!

similar to this but it had yellow and green flowers and the straps were wider!

onepieceoflollipop · 19/06/2008 14:01

Definitely babygro. If the baby has a tendency to posset frequently (like mine did) you could invest in some very pretty bibs for special occasions like this.

anniebear · 19/06/2008 14:01

not to keen on a suit!!!!!

MrsBadger · 19/06/2008 14:02

shoes?, Anna?

at 3 weeks?!

belgo · 19/06/2008 14:02

I took 8 week old dd1 to a wedding. She wore a babygro and I ha her in a sling most of the time. Very practical, and cute.

stealthsquiggle · 19/06/2008 14:03

all-in-one cotton dress-type thing assuming it is summer (H&M have some really cute ones)

dress over babygro was what I went for for parties with DD when she was tiny - definitely couldn't be doing with tights at that age.

Oooh lovely link; in fact one of those babies seems to be enjoying a wedding.

anniebear · 19/06/2008 14:08

Im sure Anna doesnt mean her first pair of clarkes!! lol

islandofsodor · 19/06/2008 14:09

When dh was best man at a wedding 5 month old ds wore a lovely little shirt and trousers for less than half an hour!!! It was so hot he spent the rest of the day in his Winnie the Pooh bodysuit.

StealthPolarBear · 19/06/2008 14:10

DS went to a wedding at 10 days in his best all white babygro
He was soo cute

MrsBadger · 19/06/2008 14:10

I know, anniebear

but still

Anna8888 · 19/06/2008 14:11

MrsBadger - I was ogling some truly gorgeous gold leather sandals for newborns at Bonpoint yesterday (am in pre-sales hunting out what I want to snap up mode)

katierocket · 19/06/2008 14:11

no to property clothes. Plain white babygrow - delicious

katierocket · 19/06/2008 14:12

or even 'proper' clothes! not sure what 'property' clothes are really - perhaps clothes for when she's thinking of investing?

lackaDAISYcal · 19/06/2008 14:13

what about some frilly rompers

MrsBadger · 19/06/2008 14:13

'gold leather sandals for newborns'

'gold leather sandals for newborns'

'gold leather sandals for newborns'

see, however often I say that phrase I can't make it make any kind of sense...

BibiThree · 19/06/2008 14:15

these are quite sweet but fit the brief I think. Pretty yet practical and they come in a 2pack for vomit/poo emergencies!

BibiThree · 19/06/2008 14:17

Ah ha, someone beat me to it

Tbh I wouldn't take a lo to a wedding in a sleepsuit, but I'd not buy an expensive, impractical dress either.

Anna8888 · 19/06/2008 14:17

Go to Bonpoint, it'll all come together I promise

MrsBadger · 19/06/2008 14:19

Anna I mustn't - I have a 10mo girl and limited funds
(although if you have any tips on which hypermarches do especially stylish baby gear let me know as we're in Fr next week)

Anna8888 · 19/06/2008 14:24

Sales start on Wednesday 25th here in France.

I don't know anything about hypermarchés (living in central Paris) but Monoprix does some quite inspired children's wear sometimes.

MummyAnnabella · 19/06/2008 14:39

interesting thread - my immediate reaction was clothes. really surprised people say babygro. i kept ds in babygros in house but we got given so many outfits that when we went out we put them on him. they were comfy though liek little towellind romper suit s and the like.

we took him to wedding at 4 weeks old in a little white m & p outfit and he was adorable. it was a gift too.

anniebear · 19/06/2008 20:51

yes Mummy A thats what I would do

if a girl, it would have a nice dress on probably from Next

I dont think I ever took mine out in baby gros

Not that I think theres anything wrong with it! But I also had quite a few clothes off people so I put them on them!

was made up when I found out I was having 2 girls, one of the best bits was buying them pretty clothes!!!!!
