Not sure what to say, if anything.

A friends teenage neice (whom I have never met)recently tried to take her own life, due to bullying, and was for some time on a life support machine. .

I want to send this girl some words of support and hope, but have absolutely no idea what to say.

Should I just leave it?

Oh how terribly sad. I don't know what you should do for sure but I think I would probably write to her and leave it open if she wanted to talk (I have suffered bullying)

NotABanana · 13/06/2008 19:31

If you know her I would definitely send a card and write in it what support you are willing to offer her.

So very sad.

Why not send a card to your friend with a message for her daughter? She can then decide whether to pass it on or not.

Poor girl

sorry, niece not daughter. Card to mum?

edam · 13/06/2008 19:32

Oh, poor thing. Yes, do write. Not much springs to mind, though, I'm afraid. Something like 'Dear X, I'm so sorry to hear what's happened. I hope things start to look less bleak very soon'? Probably crass/inappropriate but I think writing is a v. good idea.

How about a card with letter of support to mum and a bunch of sunflowers for neice? They always make me smile.
