Is there anything I can use as a substitute?

Damp it and tumble dry for a little bit? Borrow a neighbours?

Don't really know the neighbours well enough to ask, apart from next door who aren't around.

It is to iron a transfer-type thing onto a T-shirt so your tumble-dry idea won't work I'm afraid. I just need something hot and heavy

twice

zippitippitoes · 13/06/2008 13:11

heat something metal and solid in the oven..or a big casserole

dilbertina · 13/06/2008 13:12

heat a heavy saucepan with a bit of water in, empty water, bung something else in if it needs to be heavier - rocks etc and use it as impromptu iron.

MegBusset · 13/06/2008 13:13

Zippi... that is a good idea. I've got a big, heavy pyrex dish that will probably do the trick. Will try that!

Hair straightners?

forevercleaning · 13/06/2008 13:24

PMSL if i heated a casserole dish to use as an iron i would prob smear a shit load of grease on the clothes! Mine never clean up properly, always that tomatoey grease lingering about underneath!

MegBusset · 13/06/2008 21:09

I used Dilbertina's suggestion of the hot saucepan and it seems to have worked a treat
