Was walking home from work today and felt a bit windy so I thought I would let out a long silent one. All good so you think but a couple of teenage girls started laughing hysterically afterwards.

Do you think my bum was steaming??!!

OP posts:
SPARKLER1 · 24/01/2005 16:05

I reckon it was. It's bloody cold today - any warmth in that air would give off steam. How embarassing!!!

SPARKLER1 · 24/01/2005 16:06

Grin Grin

woodpops · 24/01/2005 16:06

LOL, are you sure there was no nose??

woodpops · 24/01/2005 16:06

I meant noise

starlover · 24/01/2005 16:06

i have no idea, but the thought made me laugh, so thanks!!!

oatcake · 24/01/2005 16:09

pmsl! After being paranoid about this in my teenage years, my bestfriend and I did an experiment and I can confirm that you would not get steam getting through your clothes on a cold day!

Don't want to make you paranoid, but might they have been laughing at something else? unseen bogey? smudged lippy?

woodpops · 24/01/2005 16:17

sKIRT TUCKED IN KNICKERS.

HeyEnidYouveLostWeight · 24/01/2005 16:19

give-away odour?

Fran1 · 24/01/2005 16:22

I reckon it was the smell!

DillyDally · 24/01/2005 16:30

On a vaguely related topic, does having had tearing during birth increase the likelihood of non bum farts

oatcake · 24/01/2005 16:35

fanny farts? shouldn't think so because things should heal to the state they were prior to childbirth, but another interesting point! which reminds me of a crude joke I remember from working with men 15 years ago... Ahh, the base ones are always the best (giggling away now...)

"things should heal to the state they were prior to childbirth" yeah, right!! Are you telling me your bits are in the same shape they were prior to you pushing a melon through them?

oatcake · 24/01/2005 16:41

Yep. Hence the very safe word "SHOULD" Use it in all my essays!

Seriously though, I think it is an intersting point that dillydally made and one that is worth investigating in class... will let you know!

DillyDally · 24/01/2005 16:41

I am sooo glad that no-one knows me in real life
Oh the shame.

SoupDragon · 24/01/2005 16:42

I would say it's more dependent on whether you've done your pelvic floor exercises than whether you tore or not.

oatcake · 24/01/2005 16:43

yes agree. can't stop laughing at this thread.

Flossam · 24/01/2005 16:43

Dp said he wouldn't know any different, and the midwife showed him all my stitches!!!

lou33 · 24/01/2005 16:46

How many of us are now sitting at the pc doing our pelvic floor exercises?

SoupDragon · 24/01/2005 16:46

OK everyone, squEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEze!

We'll have no one PTSL on this thread.

DillyDally · 24/01/2005 16:46

Yes Miss Lou33

lou33 · 24/01/2005 16:58

me too

SPARKLER1 · 24/01/2005 20:59

I must not laugh - will take the risk of wetting myself if I do!

Actually, to go back to DillyDally's question... I would imagine it depends how bad the tear was. As I've mentioned on other threads, I had a 3rd degree tear with DS1 and had to do for a delightful ultrasound scan 10 weeks later (didn't ask for a picture to take home), I also had to fill in a questionnaire and one of the questions asked whether I suffered from "incontinence of flatus" or uncontrollable flatulence (luckily, I didn't!). Which implies that a 3rd degree tear can lead to an increase in farting.
