We have wooden floors and every now and again we have slug trails on our rugs (disgusting I know). We put some slug pellets down under the floor boards and that seemed to help but have been finding them again. Help I hate them!!!

Are the floors over the top of your original floorboards or have you sanded your boards iykwim. We had this when we had sanded the boards down. They were getting in through the gap at the bottom of the skirting board, where the carpet usually fills. DH had to fill the holes eventually. Problem is, I now have mental images of all the slugs under the floorboards, battering at the opening to get in - yuk.

Have you tried following the trails to see where they are getting in?

Ours get in the kitchen through a gap under the door to the garden. Don't really bother me though as they're normally gone by the morning.

SL - Sounds like me old dad's idea of nirvana!

my mother used to put ground coffee, the type you use in coffee machines, all around the doors, drains and window sills (outside), they dont like the strong smell. and it did work.

I just remembered something I saw in a garden centre a while ago,
It's like this sellotape stuff, but it is metallic or something and i think when the slugs go over it it kind of gives them an electric shock of sorts...

that sounds SO stupid, it isn't electric obviously, but it has that kind of effect i think... anyway, you can get it from garden centres, and you would be able to use it indoors.
I don't think it kills the slugs... just they won't wanna go over it.

I will see if i can find out what it's called.

SLUG TAPE!

Wow there is a lot of advice on slugs here!!!!
I will defitely follow all of your tips.
We have wooden floorboards that we sanded down ourselves, so sealing them is probably the answer.
Although they do also come into the kitchen through the grate underneath the patio doors.
maybe I should stick a tonne of salt down there and watch them all shrink to death.
There is one word to describe the bl**dy things - gross!
