I am sure this is my first period since having Callum but I have no period pain I am so glad I had the coil fitted because otherwise I would be looking at a postive pregnancy test So don't think because you are having no periods you can't get pregnant!!

sck, you should probably do a hpt just in case.

unimpressed · 04/06/2008 18:50

Leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth, tbh.

SparklyGothKat · 04/06/2008 18:51

sorry........

Should I be worried??

My feelings aside, I think there is a small risk of ectopic pregnancy associated with the coil, and therefore bleeding does not in itself rule out pregnancy.

if you had unprotected intercourse, you are best to do a test to reassure yourself that you have not fallen pregnant.

Sorry for my reaction, I just got a bit shocked at your OP, and posted before thinking.

Ekkk unimpressed

Sparkly, how long have you been period free? I bf my ds until he was 15 months with no period and then feel preggers within 2 months!
You have got to be very unlucky/lucky to fall pregnant whilst bf feeding tho? surly it relies on a lot of coincidence? tho I claim not to know much about this and wouldnt really have ever used bf as a method of contraception.

Did the coil hurt? after this babe we need to think properly about contraception and the pill is out for me.

SparklyGothKat · 04/06/2008 18:58

I understand. I know that people will think I am stupid, but we just got carried away. I haven't had a period since feb last year.

SGK, iirc you had an ep last jan, because of his you are at slightly more of a risk of an ep. is the coil mirena or copper? im sure its fine, just my knee-herk reaction.

SparklyGothKat · 04/06/2008 19:01

I will be honest, its not painfree. I had a trainee doctor do mine and it was his first one, and it did hurt. I was shocked at the pain, but it could have been less painful if it was an experienced doctor doing it

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 04/06/2008 19:01

copper

OracleInaCoracle · 04/06/2008 19:06

it that case i would advise you to test anywayjust to be sure. the risk of ep is higher with acopper coil. as i said, im sure you are fine. everyone gets carried away, especially on holiday, dont beat yourself up about it!

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 04/06/2008 19:11

hi i had the copper coil fitted after i had my DD 2.5 years ago and i had a bleed 2 weeks afterwards and then nothing for 6 months. i was BF aswell and thought my periods had come back but they hadnt the doc said it is breakthrough from the coil being fitted disturbing things in there i would do a HPT just to rest your mind. and dont feel you have to apologise to some people as it is easy to make mistakes and not everyone wants to get preg straight after having a baby (was it this feb u had your LO?)
good luck

Like i said I have no pain, and its very light spotting. So might not be my period?
I had Callum last sept, but he was a premmie (as were all my babies) and I don't want another baby atm, I am enjoying Callum atm

The doctor refused to give me the MAP because it failed for me last time, and then I had a suspected EP, but no one is 100% sure it was a EP or a miscarriage
