This might have been covered before, but my DH REALLY annoys me by cutting his toe-nails and leaving them in his bed-side cabinet, he has about 2 inchs in there now, he says i am nagging and there are alot worse annoying habits out there, are they?

oh another one, when he tidy's up, all he actually does is put everything in the nearest drawer, cupboard.

Do you ever wonder how they get on at work? MY DH has a very senior, professional job; he was 'working' from home today & offered to go into town - I asked him to pick up a tray of eggs from a neighbour, keep 12 for ourselves & deliver 18 to another neighbour .............. how complicated is that? He had to write it all down & still got it wrong!!!!!!!!!!!! And he is employed to do multimillion international deals !!

DP acts like perfect bf when other people are around (my parents, his etc) changing nappies, bathing baby, washing up - so much so they must think I am a lazy so and so.. and then when they go he doesn't do it.(not altogther true - I have him well-trainned - he gets dp up and dressed in the morning and more or less ready for bed - excpect he always forgets her teeth - and he does put the nappies in to wash) - OK actally I'll stop maoning about it.
His one most annoying habit is he is obsessed with putting hand cream on and cutting his toenails - does it every day!

RosieT · 10/01/2003 22:34

Blimey, wish mine would! His toenails are like talons and keep wearing holes in perfectly good pairs of socks!!

Demented, my DH once burped "I love you" to me. How romantic!

Custardo, I'm with you on the breaking wind... and why do they find it so hilarious???

Have to let you in on the little gem my DH said to me yesterday..... was lying in bed before getting up at the end of my first week's maternity leave (am 32 weeks) and he said " you havn't done any housework this week" .
I was so stunned I couldn't actually think of a suitable response! Have let him know since exactly where he could stick comments like that!

My dh doesn't CUT his toenails, he sort of picks them off. While sitting naked on the edge of the bed. Urrrrgh.
And the breaking wind thing too - yuk. It is a huge moment of hilarity in our house when anyone farts! Dd now sings 'if you're happy and you knwo it do a fart' thhhhp thhhhhp. Guess who taught her that?

I was ill with a tummy bug a couple of months ago and asked dh to look after ds. Note I still had to look after our baby dd. At naptime I curled up on the sofa with her and was just drifting off to sleep when the door bursts open. ds and dh comes in (ds immediately leaping onto the sofa and waking dd) and he says "can you look after him as I need to go and do a dump."

Argghhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Not just picking toenails but picking them and then eating them! Have just left him downstairs doing exactly this - and after I cooked him a big nice dinner as well......... how can he still be hungry I wonder?!

My Dh has very short hair, he's almost balding infact (he'll thank me for that) so when he washes his hair he needs only a tiny bit of shampoo and conditioner.
He therefore thinks nothing of leaving the virtually empty bottles in the shower for me to discover once I'm already wet. Theres plenty in the bootle for him but anyone with hair longer than an millimetre would have to go without!
Quite trivial I know but ARRHHHH it really annoys me.

My DH has similar hair Emma - but he uses the same amount of shampoo as I do (thick shoulder length hair) and leaves all the excess soap residue all over the shower door etc. Also insists on expensive brand of shampoo to squander.

Doing those really loud sniffs where everything ends up at the back of your throat. Makes me want to throw up!

Bea, DD thinks that dh doesn't do a wee when he goes to the toilet - she only hears the sound effects and Angie, I know just what you are saying, dh is just getting over his cold so we have lots of this too.

As Willow2 said - EVERYTHING!!!!
Been ill this week - but unless I had woken everyone up, got kids ready, and done lunchboxes, we'd have all still been in bed at 9am!!!!!
Why do I have to get myself ready for work (when I'm not 'malingering' obviously!!),get 2 boys ready for school, get breakfasts, sort out lunchboxes/money, coats ,hats etc and leave for work, when he is STILL on the bl*y loo!!!!????
Why does he tidy my things away?
Why does he leave everything until the last second - I'm closing the front door on my way to work and he suddenly shouts that I have to sign something, that he can't find and he'll be there in a minute - read 10 minutes. I shout "Too late!" and shut the door now.
Why does he moan all the time?
Why is any bad behaviour on the children's part my fault?
Why does he tidy up around guests, when we've had a meal, making them feel unwelcome? The plumping of cushions, moving of their personal items/children's toys variety - implying that they are making our house untidy.

Report
breeze · 13/01/2003 11:23

lara2, i bet you love him really.

With the guests thing, my dh is the same, he actually says 'do you want anything else before you go', and when he is watching the football i think he imagines that the players can here him as he often shouts, man-on, refereeeeeeeee, where's the marking etc etc.

Complete and utter inability to close anything behind him (doors, drawers etc) - sometimes I think that I spend my entire life walking behind him shutting things so the cat or the kids don't get where they shouldn't be.

Total inability to keep track of keys, wallet, mobile phone, pager, shoes etc - then assuming that I know where said items are.

Taking his socks off at odd places around the house and leaving them wherever he took them off.

Leaving apple cores on the desk in the study for me to find days later.

Switching the light off as he leaves the room to save electricity when I'm still in the room.

Having said all this, he's pretty brilliant most of the time and is a great father.

I'm not alone any more then, am I?
There are lots of new people on mumsnet now, and I haven't posted much lately. Do a search on Droile and you'll see mostly moans about my lazy DH. What does he do? Most of the below, and more.
I was so mad at him last week that I threw a dish at the wall for effect. It missed and went through the kitchen window.
'nuff said.

Hi,
I'm new and this thread has entertained me no end! What does he do to annoy me? Well he has the ability to make our newly cleaned and tidied(by me) house looked like we've just been robbed within minutes. He leaves all cupboard and drawers open and is just SO damn untidy. As fast as i clean the bathroom he goes in there to smoke( which i hate too!) and flicks ash all over the sink. Why can he not just clean it up? He leaves clothes on the floor, never wipes the kitchen tops, leaves his boots wherever he happens to slide his feet out of them. I have actually fallen over them before now creating great amusement for my 2 ds. The thing that REALLY perplexes me is how come he doesn't notice me running around like a looney and thinks that his ONE or TWO chores are so important and he has done far more than anyone else in the house??
Oh god, this is dangerous i could just go on and on.....

This thread has made me laugh more than i have in months. My DP finds it highly amusing to fart in bed then try to pull the duvet over my head, he can't sneeze without showering everything in the vicinity, doesn't listen to half of what i say to him but becomes irritated if i don't hang on every word he says, can't understand why i don't want to spend my entire day off watching football.
I think the most annoying of all is him making comments about my weight when he has been told to lose four stone himself.(I may be overweight but i have lost seven stone). Plus he thinks he is irresistable to all women!!!! I could go on and on but i will stop there
