We are taking ds1, 6 and ds2, 4 skiing to colorado at half term in feb. This is the first time skiing for us all, so any advice, tips etc would be very gratefully appreciated!
Any essential buys, ideas to keep them occupied on long flight....in fact any ideas to help it run smoothly, thanks

Another idea for the plane - we've just come across the "52 deck series" by Lynn Gordon - themed packs of cards, each one with an idea for an activity - and there's one that's specially for "having fun on the plane". We've got the after-school activity set and it's much less gimmicky than you might think - also the very fact that it's a pack of separate cards occupies lots of time & makes for easy sharing.

Binkie, is there anywhere in UK you can get those cards?

Amazon seems to have them, though bit confusing as to whether it's the cards themselves or a book version - if you try Amazon, don't forget to go through the link at the top of the page so you get a discount & MN gets commission!!

spykid, I skied in Colorado many years ago. As trifle said, the resorts are high, so I would repeat the suncream mentioned here - the sun / wind will burn kids faster than lower altitude ski resorts.

If it's not uncool at the moment, you might want to try the coloured green / orange / yellow sunprotector sticks which you can stripe across cheeks / nose / lips: Very high UV block and you can clearly see where the protection is and where it's been rubbed / sweated away !

If it's their / your first time, I would highly recommend taking skiing lessons. They'll meet other kids and will have an absolute blast. The US ski teachers are extremely professional and child-focussed.

Have fun.
