Quarry Tiles

MargaretMountford · 26/05/2008 20:59

we have terracotta tiles - cream units, beech worktops and blue/green tiles and pale grey green walls

bodiddly · 26/05/2008 21:01

large brown porcelain/ceramic floor tiles .. similar colour to the walnut! looks great with the units and surfaces. Have done a couple of kitchens like this for clients recently and they look fantastic.

PinkChick · 27/05/2008 10:21

are quarry tiles gey/black?

terracotta = orangy isnt it?

Large brown ones?..i dont want anything shiny and would like a varied effect instead of lines of squares?..would this look good?

dont want floor 'too' dark as kitchen isnt big ..but at minute we have quite dark solid oak doors, dark green tiles and horrible horrible browny/oranngy brick shaped tiles which are cracking and brittle..so wouldnt take much too look letter than this

grey slate!

PinkChick · 27/05/2008 11:24

yeah i quite like that idea but i dont know if it will either be too dark or not go with cream units and walnut tops???

is walnut dark ? terracotta tiles are red,darkish...it's a small kitchen but seems light and airy - nice and easy to keep tiles clean -

KatyMac · 27/05/2008 12:42

Quarry tiles are (normally) 6 inches square and reddybrown - you can off-set them like brick? or set them like diamonds

PinkChick · 27/05/2008 13:05

walnut, is darker than beech block, sometimes dark sometimes a tad reddy depending on were you get it..was thinking a darker(black/grey) tile on floor but will it go?

I would say so - slate does look very good

PinkChick · 27/05/2008 13:11

is it much more expensive?...i have also heard slate si much 'warmer' than tiles?..is this right as our kitchen is extension(build years ago-currently no heating, but we will put 'something' in)so cold room/concrete floor..

I'm not sure, our new kitchen kept the existing tiles - think slate does look nice and would feel nice to walk on

PinkChick · 27/05/2008 13:20

ah, just checked google images and you can get quite a wide range of colour in slate..i DO like the grey / black mind..

go for grey,I think that's what I'd choose- dark grey

PinkChick · 27/05/2008 14:21

yeah i like that colour..would they go with wood wortops and creamy/brown tiles though?

MargaretMountford · 27/05/2008 14:30

PinkChick · 27/05/2008 14:34

OP posts:
MargaretMountford · 27/05/2008 15:59
