Hi, wasn’t really sure where to post this but does anyone have any experience with the Co Op live arena? I bought tickets to see Billie Eilish last year and I’m sure it didn’t say when I bought them but I’ve just noticed now that you can’t be in the standing area if you’re under 16 there! I’m taking my daughter who will be 16 next month but the gig is next week 😬 Just wondering how likely it is that she will be asked for ID to get in?

The security in Manchester is mega high because of the arena bombing in 2017. It will be extremely likely that you will both be asked for id checks I’d imagine.

Could you phone the booking office and try and transfer to another location? Or hopefully I’m wrong; maybe wait for some different answers.

How would checking ID prevent a bomb attack? The only purpose of checking ID is to prevent ticket reselling and venues haven’t bothered with that for years.

It’s just an overlap thing I guess cos I always get everything checked when I go to gigs in Manchester. Maybe they think ‘in for a penny, in for a pound’?

I went to the ELO gig last Wednesday. They do a bag search and scan you with a security wand before they let you in. I wasn't asked to show ID but then I'm old. Not sure if they ask for ID for the youth who attend. Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for your replies everyone. I honestly didn’t see it when I booked it or I would have for seated tickets. Think we will chance it and if it doesn’t go to plan, see if there’s someone who will swap their seated tickets. I’m guessing if you look 12 they might ask but I’d say it’s very hard to tell between a 15 and a 16 year old

It has always been the case in venues that you can't be in the standing area if you are under 16, so I don't know why you didn't notice.

I was at Robbie last month with standing tickets. and they wouldn't let a teenager through security with a valid ticket and no ID. Her mum was arguing but they got escorted out. I think it will depend on how old she looks.

I don’t think I ever went to a gig before I was 16 so I didn’t know that’s what it is for all venues. Guessing I was just rushing when getting the tickets to know that I’d got them. Completely my fault! She’s only a couple weeks off 16, not like I’m trying to take a 10 year old coz I would just re sell. My fault for not checking terms and not knowing restrictions
