Hi.
We're looking at moving to Hythe, Southampton with our family....near Ewart Recreation ground.
It appeals to us due to location of New Forest and water. We have a 9 and 11 year old...(going into year 5 and year 7 - September)
We do not need to commute into Southampton so are not worried about traffic.
We just want to have quality family time and a nice happy place to raise our children. (we're moving from a rural Suffolk small village)
Can anyone let us know
What is it like and the people?
What are both primary /secondary schools like in area.
Thanks in advance.

No, I wouldn't consider Hythe or the surrounding areas.
The traffic to get anywhere is appalling and schools aren't great. Really it depends on affordability on housing and there are better areas for schools.

Yes, the NF is nearby but Hythe is right on the edge and public transport is ridiculously poor plus your nearest proper shopping town is Totton which is a bit run down to put it politely. The area that you're looking at has nothing of note and you will need to use a car to go anywhere.
If you don't need to be near Hythe and can't afford to move deeper into the NF park area then the areas to the east of Southampton would perhaps better fit the bill. Have a look at places like West End, Hedge End, Botley, Netley, Warsash, Bishops Waltham etc (but forget about Hamble, Bursledon/Lowford as traffic is an awful issue that way plus anti social issues are bad there).
All of the above have mainly good schools and excellent secondaries and a lot of country parks like Manor Farm, Itchen Valley etc plus a lot of the new housing has green areas included - excellent areas to bring up kids.
