I had two people come round to do survey of apartment and give me quotes. They seem very reasonable to me, but wanted to guage opinions.
We are moving froma 5th floor apartment (has lift, all furniture goes in it) to a rental house about 3 miles away max. No kitchen appliances to move - just furniture.
Quotes are for them to move only, we'll do our own packing.
Quote 1
Lovely guy who came; always helpful on ohone and in person when met him. Seemed professional but flexible.
Quote is £35 per hour for 1 van and 3 men. They have quoted 5 hours (which is the minimum they can charge for) and seemed to think it'd take a lot less. I do believe that as it took us about that time when we did everything ourselves, and moved further.
They can also provide boxes, wardrobe boxes and bubble wrap.
Quote for move only, but providing the boxes, etc = £225 Quote 2
Was rather abrupt on ohone, buyt the guy who came out was very professional and friendly.
Quote is a set fee, no packing included, move only. No price for box rental given (although I had asked for them!) = £290
These also quoted a packing service and move (no dismantling, etc. though) of £408
Tempted by quote 1 as very reasonable and came across as nicest company. But is it too cheap? Should I be concerned about them?
BTW, didn't bother witht he likes of Pickfords. They took ages to respond to me, then just sent out a questionnaire for me to fill in myself rather than them coming out. Had to guess box sizes we'd need, etc. Too much hassle so I didn't bother.
