I took a photo and put it on my profile.

Our house is absolutely swarming with the little feckers.
Ever since we moved in 2 years ago, they are the only type of spider we get in this house and they breed and make webs like wild fire.

In fact I dont think how well I can describe how much they are taking over the house.

The actual body on this size one is probably only half a cm but its legs are about 2/3 inches long.
They're like a very light beige colour and their legs are very very thin with like 3 bends in them.

Does anyone know what they are or why they are trying to take over my house?

I don't know what they are but you've probably got a nest somewhere or there's one close to your house. Try and find out where they are coming from and block the hole up.

Isn't it a harvestman?

ElvinaFrizzell · 23/05/2008 14:45

Looks like a Cellar spider to me (Might be the same as a harvestman?). We kept them as "pets" for nearly four years - couldn't get rid of them! Have to admit that I quite like them. I'm terrified of the big black hairy kind of spider but you don't get them if you have cellar spiders.

Now that is interesting!

We live next to a pub and a friend has said we will most likely have a cellar but where the entrance to it is, we dont know.

They are all over the house btw.

Vv interesting stuff.

look at my interesting spider thread

Elvina, funny that because dd hates big black spiders (bit like her mum ) but she can tolerate the biggest one of these, and they are big!

Nbg,

Ours came from a box kept in my parents' garage for a few months. They hatched in our spare room when we moved. Looked like hundreds of money spiders to begin with. Within a few weeks we had the really messy webs and a spider hanging upside down in nearly every corner of the ceilings. I read that the females live up to 3 years and carry the eggs around in their mouths until there's a good enough food supply to hatch them. Makes me wonder what else was in the spare room .

That would probably explain why we get the majority downstairs and kitchen.

Its all open plan.
Although thinking about it, we dont get any in our front room which is closed off down a hallway.
