IVF Finance Minefield

Hi, I'm getting very over whelmed with choosing what IVF finance to go for. How do I know how many cycles to buy? Do I use the refund finance option even though it's more than not getting the refund option. The two companies are Assured Fertility or Access Fertility. If we go for 3 cycles, medication isn't covered and that's £3k a cycle...

We have to pay for it private and I'm just overwhelmed, it's alot of money and I don't really understand what I'm doing and don't want to make the wrong choice.

If anyone has gone through this any key steps or decisions you made to help make you this decision? Any advice would be welcome!

Many thanks!

I tried to use Access Fertility but was refused because my chances were too low based on my test results and doctors assessment. I’ve not heard of Assured Fertility.

I paid for all my IVF with 0% interest credit cards and savings. I agree it is a huge minefield, no one knows how many cycles they’ll need!

Oh sorry to hear that! 🥺

How many cycles did you pay for or did you do pay as you go?

We used credit cards as well plus savings. Because of this we had some big gaps between treatment cycles but it seemed the easier way at a time when you’re overwhelmed!

I paid for four cycles on a pay as you go basis. Combined with medication and tests it came to touch over £30k. Irony was I fell pregnant naturally just as I paid for a 5th cycle. Thankfully they refunded me that bit!

I think you have to look at it as how much are you willing to spend rather than a guess at how many cycles you’ll need. If you pay upfront for three cycles with no refund option, and you have a baby on the first cycle, yes it’s more expensive than paying for just one cycle, but you will feel like you’ve won the lottery anyway!
