Lead/ asbestos exposure

Hi
About 5 years ago I heat gunned several layers of paint off the woodwork in my hall and landing (no windows or mask) . Most of the paint was heat gunned and scraped, and the rest of the sticky gunk was sanded. I did use an old sander once and the back of the machine blew off sending dust everywhere.

I didn't realize there could have been lead or asbestos in the paint at the time.

I've just had a miscarriage and am about to start trying to conceive again, could the previous exposure to lead cause any issues for a new pregnancy? I feel like I can't ask my doctor any more questions as I've had severe health anxiety since the last miscarriage and I feel they they will think Im a hypochondriac.

Thanks

No op plenty of us have renovated a house and been fine. Just take more pre cautions next time if you suspect lead paint 😁

What age was the house? When was it built?

There would not have been asbestos in any of the paint. That wasn't how it was used. If the surface was wood, there would definitely be no asbestos. Asbestos has no known links to miscarriages.

How old was the paint you removed?

You can have a private blood test for lead, however the half life of lead in the bloodstream is 28 days, so after 5yrs I'd expect no traces from that work you did.

The house is late 1800s/ early 1900s and there was probably about 8 layers of paint, it looked like icing, painted on really thick. Some of the colours like beige, bottle green, mint green suggest it was decades old! Google tells me that there could be asbestos in old paint , but I had never heard of this before. We were decorating the hall and landing for about a year and it's the worst thing I've ever done 🙈

There is no asbestos in household paint.

And any lead will no longer be in your body.

I used to restore stained glass windows for a living, for 10 years. Lead everywhere. I have since had two healthy children and no miscarriages. I have also restored old houses and stripped paint with a stupidly low amount of PPE. So no I don’t think there’s a link. I hope you find this reassuring.
