New Year's Eve: what did you all do?

I know WWW started a thread a while back about what everyone was going to do on New Year's Eve. How did it all go? Did everyone have fun? We stayed home as usual, but actually had the nicest NYE in ages: we put the baby to bed at 7ish, then played charades and Scrabble with the older two (5 and 7), and had a 'party' supper which the kids loved. D.H then disappeared to play on the computer and I watched Free Willy with d.s. Sad but true!! I actually liked it much more than previous years when I was so drunk I could hardly stand by 11 p.m.!
Should add, several bottles of red were consumed so the evening was not tee total! What did you all do in the end?

I ended up playing Freecell on the laptop whilst listening to Party in the Park on TV. Dh went to bed at 10.30ish because he was tired and I stayed up until around 12.30 when most of the fireworks had stopped. Boring but true!

Happy new year oxocube, sounds like a lovely night. We went to my B+SIL's for a fancy dress party, we went as betty, barney and bambam we had a great night and rolled home at 3-30 .

We stayed in and same as you had a party supper with the children and made bead necklaces with the children.
They went to bed late at 9.45 and 10.45 (for the oldest) so after we had a little drink and chilled out watching a horrible film about aliens on a boat ( not my idea of fun so I read a mag and did some knitting). At midnight loads of fireworks were going off, a big display two doors along and then we drifted off to bed.
It sounds nice to be able to go to a party etc, but I'm not sure I have the energy

We hosted a supper party for 4 other couples - I prepared far too much food and am now sick of eating 'leftovers'. Played a couple of quiz type games and then spent from 12.05 - 2pm wondering when everyone would leave & I could get to bed!!

We were miserable people stayed in and in bed by 10 having suffered a terrible hangover from the night before. We celebrated with a few friends on Monday night. Fab night and no outrageous restaurant and taxi prices. Needless to say terrible hangover yesterday. Ate so much I feel sick just thinking about it

Happy New Year all !

We benifitted ( yet again) from village life - a supper at a neighbour's house with 2 other couples - and 4 under 5's running around for the first couple of hours - and then a very civilised meal - I made puddings another guest made starters - and we only had to cross the road to stagger home at 1 ish! Would have liked to stay longer but had horrible ( and correct ) feeling that dd would wake at 6.30 and that I'd have a hangover .
Have had not nice hungover day today - facing up to the fact that I've put on 7lbs since the beginning of December and have to stop eating c**p NOW!!!

Huh. We were meant to be dining in style with old friends with our passel of little boys locked in their rooms.
In fact (due to dh's employer insisting he be at his desk at 9am tomorrow) we spent it listening to the gilded youth of Carcroft, S Yorks, throwing furniture around their Travelodge room at 2am. We had earlier picnicked on coleslaw and pittas after our restaurant of choice, the Little Chef, closed at 8pm.
Happy New Year everyone, it is soooo nice to be back at home with access to a PC.

well i was designated driver to a party at a friends house , DH promised we would be home for 10pm so i could get drunk and join in stupid conversations with pissed people, however he wanted to stay - got very drunk, totaly embarassed me and today we are not speaking. however the lesson over being the "mug" who drives just becuase he cant drive has been learned. in future he can bloody well walk.
happy new year everyone by the way i truly hope its a good one for all

We had a tesco 'Finest' Indian meal for two, with extra bits, and a bottle of 'Finest' Cava. It was lovely, and I got pleasantly merry without a hangover today. Food was excellent, wine special enough for NYE, and the company was passable (dh!) At least we got through the meal without him winding me up, and we managed to have a relatively baby free chat, mostly about films.

Well ours was an interesting night!! Since we didn't have a babysitter on NYE, we arranged for my BIL (dh's brother) and SIL to come over with their kids and we were just going to have pizza and a few drinks while the kids entertained themselves. BIL arrived in a bad mood and after about an hour, BIL and SIL began to bicker. It turned into a big fight and dh and I tried to keep the kids entertained while they were yelling at each other in the front garden (neighbours probably thought it was dh & I) . SIL was in tears and BIL decided that they should all just go home. Their kids were really disappointed and kept asking if they could stay - dh and I offered to take the kids home later but BIL insisted that they were all leaving together. SO.... they left at 9.30pm, I put ds to bed and dh and I spent the rest of the night quietly reading & watching TV!!! SIL was embarrassed and apologised before they left, but we haven't heard from them since. Sigh......... unbelievable huh.

We had a lovely time, best for ages. Dp borrowed a projector from work over Christmas so our basement has been temporarily transformed into a cinema/party room. So we got some films (Gattaca, because it was cheap and Goldeneye so I could drool over Pierce Brosnan - no video rental here in the sticks) and cuddled up under a duvet with food, wine and white chocolate and watched them on a 15 foot screen, i.e our basement back wall with a sheet draped over it. I set my phone alarm for 11.59 so we could kiss at midnight. Ds is at his dads' so we could have gone out but the alternative above was so much nicer and I didn't want to... I'm getting old

WWW

You night seems to have been a good one.

I tried to get an early night but was woken up by a series of drunks, fireworks and DW stumbling around the room in the dark.

CAM · 02/01/2003 15:37

You really must get DW to stop letting off fireworks and entertaining drunks in your bedroom, SH. My NYE was great as it is DH's birthday on 1 Jan we stayed in and drank 3 bottles of vintage champagne and watched Jools. Jimmy Cliff one of my favourite singers of all time.

I have asked her not too but since DD was born her memory is all shot to hell.

We went to a party! My parents said they might as well watch DVDs and the Jubilee concert repeat and drink wine at ours instead of theirs, so we went to a party where we only knew the host but had a lovely time especially plastered me who was absolutely blammed by 11pm - makes a nice change having been breast feeding, pregnant and working for the previous three NYE respectively

Happy New Year all!
