Hi all!

Lots of you already know a little about my daughter Layla, we lost Layla on the 13th of August last year. She was in hospital 9 months of her 11 month life. The ward where she was for most of the time was filled with wonderful staff and patients, I really want to give them something back and need ideas for a fundraising event that would make as much money as possible...can anyone help please? xxx

How about something like a summer fete with lots of stalls and a bbq. Good luck with whatever you decide.

A summer fete sounds lovely

Get some local art students in to paint murals on the walls. They can use it for their projects and the ward / corridors gets a make over.

when my nephew died my sister did a childrens dance/ball/disco thingy. She sold the tickets and the money went to his charity. You could try that though its a lot of work! So so so sorry about your lovely daughter. Its obvious she is very loved. x

Our local hospital held a wedding/bridesmaid dress ball. All the women dressed up in either a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress. You can imagine some of them! Was great fun and got my dress out of mothballs! Good luck and hope you raise lots

We have a fundraising disco every year in our tennis club(cheap drink) Just have disco, no food, one really good raffle prize and £10 for the privilege. It raises a lot of money, not too much work and everyone enjoys it. Good luck

The best fund raising we have ever done, is a Pram race.

It took some organizing, as we had to have permission to close a road to use.

We did it for a Playgroup, and mums and dads, built and raced 'prams'

We charged £10.00 per pram entry fee, and the entrants got sponsered, we had buckets lining the route, and a big BBQ at the end, a prize for the winner and made a afternoon and evening of it.

We raised £500.00.

Our school raised money for aholiday home for terminally ill children by having a "bandana day": all the kids wore bandanas to school (the boys looked like pirates, the girls fortune tellers) and paid ?1... as an expression of solidarity with the then-pupil who had lost all her hair through chemo, it was fantastic and caught on nationwide so now bandanas are sold every year and worn by many school children on a named day. Look at www.barettstown.org

We made a huuuge amount on our pre-school raffle this year-boring I know but if the prizes are good you make a lot.

We rang round everywhere and got some lovely prizes, you'd be amazed at who'd donate and for such a good cause like yours I suspect you'd do particularly well.

Wagamamas donated a meal in their restaurant, local gym gave a years membership, local tourist attraction gave a years membership etc. If you get good prizes and the tickets aren't too pricey you'll sell the lot.

Good luck with it.
