Anyone live with a plumber? I have a problem with my hot pressure.

Had new bathroom at W/E - my brother who is an almost qualified (but not trading) plumber fitted it.

He couldn't fully isolate hot water at the gate valve, so thought it may be slightly stiff/furred/whatever. As a consequence he had to drain teh tank to isolate the hot water supply.

When he turned back on our hot pressure is significantly lower than it was (at it was never fantastic). It takes a good couple of minutes to fill my basin. It doesn't seem as bad downstairs as upstairs.

Anyway cold pressure at the shower is significantly better (and apparently that is effectively coming from the same line and should therefore be a balanced pressure or something...I lost him at this point). He thought a furred valve might also be causing this problem. He took the gate valve off and inspected it but all seemed fine.

Any solutions?

Google suggests air trap, and use mains cold pressure to flush it back to tank. But then another web page says there is no such thing as an air lock.

I am going to drain the tank at bathtime, and allow it to fully refill before opeinginthe hot taps - as a friend suggested this might work (the taps were originally open when the hot was turned back on).
