WWYD about a possible rape confession of a serving Army Major?

Several years ago, a serving Army Major told me, as if it was a regular anecdote, about a time when he and a male colleague asked a junior female colleague for a three-some. When she said no, they ‘knew she wanted it’, so took her out, ‘got her so drunk she couldn’t stand, and took it in turns to shag her senseless’ - were more or less his words. I was shocked at the time, as that sounds like rape to me. I’m just reminded of it and what women in the army go through by the story of Jaysley Beck. But I’ve no idea who the victim was or exactly where and when it happened, except on a British military base about 10-15 years ago. It’s highly unlikely that even if the victim considered it rape, and she might not, that it would be reported now. But if it was, would it help that he basically confessed it years ago? I’ve never thought to report it anywhere before and wouldn’t do it readily now, as I know he’s soon to become a dad. But, on the other hand if the victim ever reported it and needed evidence, I’d want it known that he has been quite open about what he did. Is there anything to be done here?

I listened to Radio 2 today about exactly this. Caller after caller saying how utterly rife it is.

As Rawnotblended posted this sort of thing is rife in the forces.
In all honesty he is probably still telling the same story now, you could report him to the police, but I doubt that much would be done. If you now his name you could report him to the branch of the forces that he belongs to.

Thanks both, it’s true it’s unlikely to be worth reporting, I won’t go to his army corp as I don’t actually want to ruin his career, but I just wanted to sense check whether it’s wrong not to.

You don't want to ruin his career? He's a rapist. I'd say that's the absolute least he deserves.

Doesn't he deserve his career ruining? What about the women he's supervising now, what do they deserve?

HE ruined his career, and this young woman's life.
