Do you shave your legs during winter?

I don't. Well, I didn't! I've decided I better had, before I start to trip over it .

I do it all through the year, every other day, legs, under arms, bikini...

elliott · 11/01/2005 16:23

I'll provide you with moral support hmc! Mine only get done before holidays (any of it). Otherwise they are rarely exposed even in summer.

Sponge · 11/01/2005 16:32

Legs get waxed but I have to say they do get left to get quite long in between times in winter.
It would take much more than hairy legs to put dh off .
Armpits have been lasered and now only grow the occasional hair which is pluckable. Very good .

Cha · 11/01/2005 16:33

I really SHOULD do mine, I look like a Shire horse. But that's because we haven't been swimming since before Xmas... the only reason I shave/depliate (nice word for ripping the hairs out by their roots) is when they are going to be seen by anyone apart from dp (who I am sure secretly hates hairiness but is too sensible to say anything).
Am interested in that Johnsons product on TV at the mo - anyone tried it, how does it work and how much is it?

Cha · 11/01/2005 16:36

That's depilate.

Oo-er - laser. Does that work / hurt / cost?

FineFigureFio · 11/01/2005 16:37

I do, if i dont dh comments...lord knows why as he doesnt shave his

Bozza · 11/01/2005 16:39

Fruitful - make him wax [evil witch emoticon]

Blackduck · 11/01/2005 16:39

HMC - i'm with you....don't do underarms (sorry!). Legs - only if they are going to be on display (i.e. the one week in the UK that counts as summer...) Doesn't seem to put dp off....

Sponge · 11/01/2005 16:45

Cha, laser doens't really hurt - stings a little bit but probably less pain than waxing. It works - about 6 treatments and you don't really grow any hair to speak of - a pluckable few - and after one or two treatments you will be down to about half what you had. Works best on dark hair light skin though. OK for some blondes, not really effective for redheads and doesn't work on black skins. This is because it relies on the contrast between hair and skin colour to conduct the beam to the root.
It does cost but if you think about what you spend over the years on waxing, creams etc...... The trouble is finding the money in one hit.

Tommy · 11/01/2005 16:59

I do underarms once a week before swimming and legs...well, I did them before Christmas and the time before that was in August which was also the last time I wore a skirt!
DH doesn't seem to mind either way (or should that be "notice"?)

lou33 · 11/01/2005 17:29

i waxed dh's back a few weeks ago, immensely enjoyable experience it was.

for me i mean

fruitful · 11/01/2005 17:43

So this Johnsons cream thing... what is it? If you've got to keep putting it on, how is it less effort than shaving?

Blossomhill · 11/01/2005 17:48

Still do them as try to make an effort for dh

SofiaAmes · 11/01/2005 22:03

Not very often. HOwever....i am getting all my hair removed by laser and soon will never ever have to shave my legs (or bikini line) ever again.

expatkat · 11/01/2005 22:06

Interesting, Sofia. . .but is laser permanent? Won't you have to go every several months to redo it?

Hulababy · 11/01/2005 22:20

Yes I do. I hate having fuzzy legs. Since starting new gym and going in the pool regularly I am checking even more often tht they are done.

Levanna · 12/01/2005 00:39

TBH I'm only keeping on top of my arm pits due to not using deodourant as I'm breastfeeding. They're easier to keep whiff free, nude! The rest of the time I'm probably a bit less conscientious. (Definitely less conscientious!)

OP posts:
SofiaAmes · 12/01/2005 13:57

It takes 5 - 6 sessions altogether and then it is all gone permanently!!!! My friend had it done and it really is permanent. I've only had one session so far and already have noticed the difference.

NameChangingMancMidlander · 12/01/2005 14:00

Pits are done daily. Legs are done every 3 days, when I remember or when DH complains about stubble

tex111 · 12/01/2005 14:11

Legs and armpits daily. I can't stand stubble much less actual hairy legs and underarms. So itchy. Bikini line every other day. I like to stay tidy for DH but fully expect him to do the same - hence the regular removal of hair on his back.

Levanna · 12/01/2005 23:48

Bikini line....what's a bikini line? More like a Tommy Cooper here!

Gwenick · 13/01/2005 00:09

No - because I never shave them

Never really seen the point to be honest (although it helps that I'm blonde so it's not so obvious). Had them shaved just before I got married and DH didn't even notice until I told him LMAO

biglips · 13/01/2005 00:32

when i was alot younger - i used to shave my legs every simgle time i had a bath - now its everytime i get dressed up to go out or swimming BUT ive always shaved my armpits.

Fran1 · 13/01/2005 00:37

Levanna - why no deodarant when breastfeeding??

Levanna · 13/01/2005 00:41

I don't like idea of all those chemicals seeping down and around my breasts for the little 'uns to suck up. I've also found that with each DD, a return to deo (due to habit!) once or twice has caused nursing strikes. It just isn't nice tasting stuff, after all .
