I'm due to have a 24hr ECT done soon after my doctor was concerned about a possible heart problem, anyone had this done before and could you keep your bra on when the attach the wires? Don't care if it's a female doing it but the letter said it could be a man in which case I would rather be at least partially clothed.

I can only think ECT stands for Electro Convulsive Therapy but this doesn't sound like what you mean. What procedure is this?

ah the 'similar threads' suggest that 24hr ECG might be what you mean, although sorry OP I don't mean to assume you have made a mistake.

Also presuming you mean an ECG you'll need to take your bra off for it to be placed on but then you can cover yourself again. If you feel uncomfortable if it's a male you could ask for a chaperone but honestly, they've seen it all so many times they're not judging. Or at least I hope not, I've had a few and I never really care who sees what when it's being put on.

I'm wearing one today.

It's a little box that clips to your waist band or top. It has three wires with very sticky pads - one sticks to chest on the sternum, one under each breast. They're very secure- not at all like normal ECG wires and not as many. It makes no noise and isn't painful.

You don't remove any clothes. You simply lift your top and they attach each of the pads. It takes seconds and you can even press them down when they've placed them.

Photo attached so you can see the pads.

Thanks for your replies, and yes I did mean ECG not ECT, silly brain.
Still not much wiser though as some of you say you have to remove clothing and another person who is actually wearing one today says you don't.

I had this- I didn’t remove my bra.I collected it from the hospital and applied it myself. There are simple instructions . Why don’t you just phone the department ?
