Trainers: Can you suggest an inexpensive lightweight pair for me to wear to the gym please?

I've started going to the gym

My trainers feel heavy and hot and a bit tight (even though they are my size). I feel like I'm wearing a pair of lead hot water bottles on my feet, after a bit of wobbling running.

I'd like a really lightweight pair that are cooler (in temperature rather than credibility ...that's long gone!)

Trainers always seem soooo expensive though. I can't afford 50+ quid trainers. Any suggestions please?

Look on ebay, Nike air ( or anyones with the air function) should give you good stability for the gym. I go 3 times a week and i find the Nike shox are excellent for me ( are expensive but i got mine on ebay for about £35.00)

Ah that's great thanks so much.

I just didn't have a clue what to look for; there are so many to choose from. I think wearing a rubbish pair made my knee hurt the other day.

i have knee problems but since wearing the shox it seems better, you need that kind of " bounce" in them so if your doing high impact it wont be to harsh on your knees

I would reccommend going to a specialist running shop tbh. If you will be doing a lot of running proper shoes really make a difference. I learnt the hard way and ran in a pair of standard nikes and developed shin splints.

A specialist shop will fit you properly with the correct shoe as most women actually over pronate when they run and are unaware.

You will find that Asics/Sauconay are really good brands. YOu should get a decnt pair for £50.

I see, thanks! This is all very new to me, but I'm determined to keep going. I rather enjoy it, much to my surprise.

I was reading a poster about shin splints the other day. Sounds v painful. I hadn't heard of it before.

I'm so new I can't run for more than about 10 mins atm but I don't want to get hurt and have to stop.

I know what you mean about the runnig, hate it but i do classes and find them better for the cardio as i dont push myself hard enough if im on my own!

I also love it people think im mad!

What about these

TsarChasm · 24/04/2008 16:19

Thanks Beellie That's a good site. Reasonable prices for the dc's trainers there too.

I love a bargain.............

Actually I bought them on Friday evening and they were delivered on Tuesday and I have to say not only did ds4 say they were quite trendy (see miracles do happen) but they are really lightweight too.....
