Size 1 Walking Shoes???

Had a nightmare trip to get our DD's feet measured yesterday 😳Between the screaming and tears, we eventually found out that they don't make walking shoes small enough for our baby's feet???

She is desperate to walk everywhere and has been confident on her feet for about 5 weeks now. But her feet are Size 1 if not smaller (the measuring gauge didn't go small enough).

I've seen other advice to look for European brands as they start walker shoes smaller - no luck! 0-3 month shoes all look so flimsy and like she'd be safer with no shoes at all... Anyone else had this experience and any tips?

Shoes here in the Uk start at a 2 or 2.5 if you are lucky, is she walking independently or just cruising and pull herself up holding on to
things? If it’s the latter I’d not worry until she can actual walk.

Walking very independently 😬I will hold her hands if we're on a really hard surface or by sharp corners but out of cautiousness rather than necessity.

Very sell kickers in a size 1 x

FawnFrenchieMum · 30/09/2024 12:34

My DD was the same. We had to settle for leather pram shoes. Matalan did the best ones (but was 10+ years ago). We also eventually found some prewalkers with a rubber sole in Clark’s outlet.

Also vertbaudet do size 1 x

These type but all look out of stock.

DS had tiny feet even though he was statistically late to walk fortunately he was just into a size 2 by the time he was confident. I had looked prior though as he'd been cruising for ages so knew he'd need small shoes. Kickers had loads so I'd start there.

@itsawildride Have you tried Next? Im sure some of their “crawler” ones have a decent rubber sold and start at an EU17 which I think is about a 1?

Thank you so much for all these ideas everyone! I felt like I trawled loads of websites, but had missed some good options by the looks of it. A relief to think we might find something suitable.

For waterproof and adjustable sizing try Stonz- both my DC had small feet and had these as their first outdoor shoes and they were great. https://www.happylittlesoles.co.uk/products/brand-1/stonz.html

Edited to add their small is about a UK size 1

Is the size definitely correct? Just asking because it’s not that easy to measure babies especially if there are tears and they won’t stay still and thinking back DD was 50th percentile plus walked at 9 months and still went into a size 2 so wondering if the size could be wrong and it could be worth a remeasure??

I know you say it was a bad experience so I’d really recommend the startrite measuring guage- I got it during lockdown and it’s so easy to use (there are guides online too if you’re not confident). Doing it at home you can get them in a good mood distracted by a toy or TV, there’s no waiting around, no issues when the shop doesn’t have stuff in stock because you have the full range online. Honestly, it’s brilliant and a great investment.

Also, as for your original question, Nike has a lot of trainers in a 1.5. The revolution style is good for little feet as it’s light with a flexible sole.

A belated but very big thank you for all these suggestions - really appreciate it. We've measured her feet at home (will definitely be investing in the gauge - thanks for the tip @InTheRainOnATrain!) so just about to order some to try.
