Can anyone from experience recommend a clinic in London / South London to remove eye bags surgically please?

Oh my goodness !

So many threads lately about botox and boob jobs. And now this!

The thought of this makes me feel ill.

Sight is such a gift. My father lost his sight and was blind for the past 20 years of his life.I have very poor eyesight and have had to have laser treatment to heal tears on my retina. The thought of having unnecessary operations on the eye area for purely cosmetic reasons seems crazy. There are cases where people's eyes have been affected by botox injections. Why risk your sight?

Really OP why on earth would you want to have such an operation?

Why is it that people are so angry on Mumsnet. I posted years ago and got so many angry irritated unnecessary responses it put me off posting anything. You don't know who the person is behind the message or if they are going through anything bad, yet jumping to conclusion rather than asking nicely is not the way forward in this world.

I can't recommend anyone in your area OP but I had an upper blepharoplasty years ago and am so glad I had it done. Made me feel so much better and was under local so I was awake and in and out in about 30 mins.

I don't know why some people can't wind their neck in! I'm also interested in an upper and lower bleph OP, and also based in London. One place I'm researching atm is Moorfields Eye Hospital as they so private cosmetic surgery as well.

There's a guy in exeter that I recommended here before and I know other mumsnetters have used him.

Came recommended to me via a surgeon friend. Can pm details of you like?

I'm afraid I cant recommend anyone, but my mum had upper blepharoplasty- she lives abroad and it was deemed for medical need as it was closing her eyes. She looked 20yrs younger and it really opened her eyes up. I realise this is different to what you want done, but are the lids an issue to?

OneForTheRoadThen may look into this too as it's not too far.

I'm assuming you are aiming this comment at me seeing I'm the only one who had posted at that point.
What is angry about my post?
I gave my genuine reaction to the thought of an operation on the eyes. It fills me with horror. I cannot understand how any one would want to undergo an operation that might put their sight at risk for cosmetic reasons.
You posted on a public forum and I commented. As I have a right to do.

Don't underestimate the psychological impacts of eye bags, I've had severe ones since a child. People stared and commented on them all the time when I was a teen and I now wear glasses all the time even though I don't need except for reading. Makeup makes them look worse. I look ill all the time.

I'm very happy for you that you are lucky enough not to understand this, but maybe have a bit more empathy.

@Myfavouriteflowers but the operation isn't 'on the eyes', it's on the skin around the eyes. I think one of the only complications that might affect eyesight would be if the surgeon dropped an instrument into the eyes during the op and I'm presuming they would implement procedures to avoid this (perhaps working from the top of the head and not the side-I can't really remember much about my op so can't remember where the surgeon stood).
Possibly another complication that may affect the eyesight would be if the surgeon removed too much skin and they eyelid wouldn't close properly but surely he/she would have carried out enough training to avoid this.
Even if there is an infection after surgery, this infection is on the skin and not the eyeball.
I can't think of any other complication regarding skin around the eyes that would affect eyesight.
