NHS Bank Job

I need advice from someone working with the NHS. I got an offer letter for a bank staff for band three, and I need clarification on whether to accept the offer. The reason is that I stay in a different location from the job ( 8 hours), which means I might never take any shift, and I don’t know the consequences. Secondly, I intend to apply for jobs in Band 6, and I don’t know if accepting a Band three role will affect my ability to get a Band six role, as I have read that you can only move a step upward. Additionally, the present role is nonclinical, but I intend to move into a clinical role and wonder if it will affect my chance of getting a clinical role.

It depends a lot on your Trust: there is no 'rule' about it across the NHS as a whole because it isn't one, it's lots of pieces. It also depends on your role, eg a person can work bank as a B3 HCA while qualifying as a nurse and go straight to a B5 role once the pin is gained.

Non clinical bank contract you normally need to do one shift in 6 months. If it's clinical think you need to do it once a month. Depends on your trust. It usually says in the bank contract.

And if you are a clinical professional registrant sometimes you can't work an unregistered role eg you have to give up your nursing pin to work as a HCA

Why take a contract 8 hours away? You'll need to attend at least some of the stat man training in person if it's a clinical role.
Just turn it down and apply for something closer to home.
You can absolutely work as a band 3 then jump to a 5 when your registration comes in, that's not a problem.
