Yes, I do worry, and don't use them. Read a 'behind the label' article in The Ecologist recently which convinced me I'm right not to. Plain water gets my dd clean! Have you looked online, I'm sure you could get stuff there.

Here's a bit about it from their website:

"BEHIND THE LABEL: JOHNSON'S BABY SOFT WASH
Pat Thomas delves beneath the label of the UK's best-selling liquid soap for babies, and finds two hormone disrupters linked specifically to breast cancer and several 'penetration enhancers' - chemicals that can increase the rate at which the body absorbs carcinogens and other harmful chemicals."

here you go, a list of suppliers!

There isn't a link to the whole piece, sorry. No, Tesco prob don't stock it.

No, I don't worry at all - but I use products, wherever possible, from a reputable multinational.

Boots also sell 'Little me' organic bath products. I would have laughed about this before the Guardian ran a special supplement on chemicals in toiletries and analysed products aimed at young children. Now I buy organic.

WWW, I'm with you, water does it, and once in a while an organic baby wash. in that guardian special i think i remember oldiemum, that 'parfum' was one of the real baddies, and it's in loads of baby stuff!

OldieMum · 04/01/2005 22:35

I don't know. They had a series of supplements back in the spring. Do an archive search on Felicity Lawrence, who wrote a lot of the supplement on chemicals in foods, and that might get you to the right month, at least. I'll try as well.

sophabaubles · 04/01/2005 22:38

here and here is the special really really scarey stuff imo

OldieMum · 04/01/2005 22:39

Not being facetious but I do think everything appears to be potentially carcogenic...so no I don't worry about it

handlemecarefully · 04/01/2005 22:46

that's meant to say carcinogenic
