Yes, that'll be me then!!

You may remember I've been an MUFC fan since the days of George Best, and what with life and dd coming along, priorities change. Which all means that I have never seen Ronaldo or Rooney play. Ever. And we only usually get to spank the Arse for 3 hours per year, so you may be able to appreciate just how thrilled I am!!! To see the team playing the BEST football in Europe, withthe best player in the world in the team.. And my mate who I'm going with is a Coventry supporter and has not been to OT for 20 years, but watches the Utd games on tv with me as a supporter.

Did I say I was excited??.

I can't wish you well for today, as I hope you'll understand, but do really hope you manage to capture Ronaldinho!!

May even do a match report, just for you!!

Did I mention I was excited??

oh Ruby..let it gooooooo. Rooney performed a vasectomy on Carvalho, with his studs and no pain-relief offered. That's what got him sent off. And Portugal were just too good for you in general.
And Ronnie has reacted superbly since, to become the best player in the world, playing along side his supposed victim.

yes we have all forgotten that sad World Cup campaign..except you it seems!

Could i just point out that you didn't "spank the arse" last season, home or away. 6 points out of 6 to the gooners.

Feels like a dim and distant memory though. The odds are stacked against us tomorrow.

But ever the optimist I might take the bookies up on the 4/1 they are offering on an arsenal win!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 12/04/2008 13:01

yes, pan but you are biased, no?

MaureenMLove · 12/04/2008 13:02

He fouled Rooney really badly and then they had a barney on the pitch! Man U seem to have forgotten how badly he behaved, against England. But then again, if he was in my Premiership team, I think I would too!

MaureenMLove · 12/04/2008 13:04

Er, its Sven isn't it?

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 12/04/2008 13:04

might be, Mo, might be

Biased? Me?? Noooooo!! Am a footie fan, so biase is rightly part of my DNA structure!

Adad - greetings! Point taken totally. And am smarting at playing you to peices in Cardiff and still losing the Final..4-1 you say. Don't waste your money!!

do we need a mumsnet fantasy football league?

foxinsocks · 12/04/2008 13:10

This will probably be one of the only times, as a chelsea fan, you'll hear me say

COME ON THE ARSE!

Enjoy the game Pan. How exciting!

aDad · 12/04/2008 13:10

hi pan

yep the bookies rarely get it wrong!

Losing flamini for this game was the final straw I think. I'm not sure gilberto will be able to cope there for the full 90. But if little Theo carries on from where he left off the other day, it might be exciting at least.

Have a fun day though...
but of course I hope you come home disappointed

aDad · 12/04/2008 13:11

he he at the chelsea fans needing a favour from arsenal!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 12/04/2008 13:12

we'll be here for you if you are disappointed tomorrow evening, pan...

foxinsocks · 12/04/2008 13:12

and I think the red mancs have tied up the league and the CL

they are playing on a different level to anyone else at the moment

I think it will be only bad luck that will rob them of both. I hope I'm wrong!

RustyBear · 12/04/2008 13:13

So when are Arsenal actually going to get to play at Wembley then?
From a fan of the only club apart from MU & Chelsea to have played there twice (even if they did lose both times...)

aDad · 12/04/2008 13:13

nope fox, you are right

and yes, we'll be here pan. with Loooots of sympathy.

PaninoPan · 12/04/2008 13:13

thank you Squonk. We Reds are noted for our good grace in defeat....

foxinsocks · 12/04/2008 13:15

Rio is out I take it? haven't checked your injuries

we are in trouble without our first 2 goalies and grant and his odd team selections

PaninoPan · 12/04/2008 13:17

no, I take it Rio is still in, having played on Weds. night, despite an additional foot wound.

Anyone want to buy Wes Brown? Or Darren Fletcher? Anyone??

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 12/04/2008 13:21

brown's alright isn't he? he likes having fletcher around (fergie) it seems

PaninoPan · 12/04/2008 13:27

Brown switches off too many times, and is always at risk of making stupid mistakes..and the hestitancy to sign a new contract hasn't endeared him to fans and I presume his team mates. And Fletcher, well, he is "good" and tries really hard, but sems to play with a sort of inferiority complex.
At this level, games are often won and lost in the head well before setting foot on the pitch.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 12/04/2008 13:35

if you have Sky, there's a cracking game on at the moment, ds is glued to it (Q of the S vs Aberdeen in the semi final of their cup)

Yes, I can see what you mean about Brown. I've never really seen what people see in Fletcher (and he's highly rated isn't he) but Fergie uses him as a tactical sub I think.

I was very surprised by the Roma team selection.

PaninoPan · 12/04/2008 13:42

fox - I am pretty sure the selection was done with the Arsenal game in mind. Nice to see Neville coming on..and committing a foul with his second touch!
On Wed. early evening I was doing spelling homework with dd, and had to produce a sentence with the word "predict" in it: so said "Daddy 'predicts' Man U will win tonight one nil...."

Next week we move on to "All the world hates a 'smartarse'."

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 12/04/2008 14:23

now I need a score prediction from you for tomorrow, smartarse

what are the bookies saying?

PaninoPan · 12/04/2008 14:33

From smartarse - don't know waht the bookies say..but..

Arsenal have scored as many away goals as utd have, and they will be playing for pride, and we are slightly weakened in defence, so I can see Arsenal scoring one, but they will be over run atthe back by R,R, Tevez et all, and if Nani is on.. Esp. if Senderos plays. (always worth a goal to the opposition!) And I can see Gallas being sent off, or subs. by Wenger before he is.

Going for 3(at least) to 1.

and you??
