ID for moving house

I have been waiting for a council property closer to my family/kids school for 3 years now, I finally got a call last week to say I could go view a house next week. I went to look just in the outside and I love it, I really want it but the woman on the phone said I needed to bring ID. I have misplaced my provisional license, I don’t have a passport and I’m estranged from my parents and my birth certificate is at their home (reaching out is not an option) I only have a couple days and I’m unsure if there’s anything else I can use as ID? Obviously not enough time to order anything but I don’t want to miss out on getting this house.

The obvious person to check with, would be the person who asked you for the ID, but I would be turning the house upside down looking for things, and then take a handful of documents with me - work pass / NI letter / Child Benefit letters / Bank documents / Council Tax Letter / anything I had with photo ID (some club memberships etc do).

How are you planning to vote without photo ID ?

Can you order a replacement provisional driving licence ASAP?
Then try getting back to the person who said you need the ID, tell her you have mislaid the provisional license but have requested a replacement.
Ask what other other forms of ID you could show her for now, bank statements, council tax, utility bills etc, and would it be possible to bring in the replacement DL as soon as it arrives?

I think it was inevitable that you were always going to need ID for this and in 3 years there would have been ample time to have got this sorted out but they may accept other things if you are stuck. I was able to use bank statements and a blue badge/ freedom pass as photo ID but even if you can't use anything else, get some other ID arranged without any further delay now. Perhaps save up for a passport or you can usually get a replacement birth certificate issued by the town hall or registry office, but don't let this prevent you getting a property when it is possible to resolve it yourself.
