Any interior designer types out there? Advice on what colour to paint a room that gets very little natural light?

Something subtle but not boring old magnolia, beige etc. It's a dining room that's currently a dark red and dark brown, which was all very well when we were childless and actually used the ruddy room, but it's now just a makeshift playroom and I want to make it a bit less mausoleum-like. Any ideas?

Just used this in kitchen

It is much much brighter than it was before (was pale blue) Is also a lovely warm colour.

It is a bit on the pink side in RL though, so it might be a bit girly for a playroom/dining room.

We painted out rather dark kitchen Dulux Edwardian Lemon, which is a very grown up kind of yellow! Looked so nice we have now extended it to the hall and the cloakroom too.
