Hi everyone. Any advice is welcome.
My baby is currently on an interim care order and living with foster carer.
He has also been appointed a child guardian and own solicitor. My baby doesn't speak so can't express their views. Court will take place next month again has anyone here any experience with child guardians and how to they generally behave towards the parent and what are they like in court

Child Guardians are qualified social workers - they don't work within children's services in the local authority, their role is to represent the child and their needs. They don't have to agree with the authority's plan, they are working for the best interest of the child, they will look at the proposed plan and whether it best meets the needs of the child. They will look at things from the child's point of view.

The solicitor will be one who specialise in working with families and children. Their role is to represent the child in conjunction with the guardian in securing the most appropriate plan of action.

I don't have any experience myself, just know this much from some training I've undertaken. I hope things go smoothly for you all. 🙂

Will the judge agree with their decision?

The judge takes into account all of the information they are presented with, the child's guardian is there to be an independent representation for the child (as they are independent of the local authority). I don't think it's a case of agreeing or disagreeing with any one person/provider of information, decisions are made based on all of the information presented.

They are part of the broken system
On the two occasions I had dealings. They failed to take accurate record of the children's views and misrepresented them.
The children have told now that they didn't know what the person's role was, what they were doing with the info and even led them or coerced them to fit the social care narrative.
I raised concerns about the ability of a stranger to gain the true views of children especially as my eldestcis autistic and is often misquoted, misunderstood and struggles to understand things.
I was told the GAL was well versed in autism, she was not. She massively failed my daughter now 18 and out of care.

You will learn that training and reality have no relationship. The training legislation etc sounds great. In practice none if it happens how it should
