All hail the trampoline - solution to all my problems

This weekend I bought a trampoline. A big one with a net. £400. Looks big in the garden. BUT best blardy thing ever.

Take two small boys, bounce all day. Exhausted at bedtime. Sleep all night. Job done. Sofas spared.

Even better bit. No longer have to pay to go to a gym or drive anywhere to exercise or whinge about DH not being home early enough for me to exercise. Now that the clocks have gone forward and we've got longer evenings, I can go bounce and get fit once the boys are in bed.

Tired children. Fitter mummy (well will be soon). I cannot recommend getting a trampoline highly enough.

Winter will of course be a different issue but I'll cross that bridge then.

ooh was it you asking the other day? If so that was quick! They're brill though aren't they?

JoshandJamie · 01/04/2008 21:47

nope - wasnt me asking. It was an impulse buy but I LOVE IT. Best bit is that I feel like a kid again. Can't remember when last i jumped on a trampoline

Dh put the dc's up today. It's perfect. I quite enjoyed it too.

TurkeyLurkey · 01/04/2008 21:50

Ahh well I just have to make sure I've been to the ahem, loo before having a good bounce IYSWIM

Its defo been the best thing we've bought..as well as bouncing on it, my two turn it into all sorts of things to fit into their games (eg, spaceship etc).

SparklyGothKat · 01/04/2008 21:52

Dh put our new one up on sunday, haven't seen the kids since then..

hennipenni · 01/04/2008 23:08

Ours gets used in the winter too (well at the weekends). My DC just pinch my best towels to dry it with and then leve them in a sodden heap on the lawn

wiseweasel · 01/04/2008 23:15

Just put ours up,the dcs only get off for meals. It's great for seeing what's going on in the neighbours' gardens too

Pixel · 02/04/2008 14:42

Mmm ours is great too but I'm a lot more restrained nowadays. When we first got it I was re-living my youth, showing the dcs all the 'moves' from when I did trampolining at school. Unfortunately it seems I've got old lady hips and ended up hobbling around for a fortnight.

wiseweasel · 02/04/2008 23:14

Anyone else get trampolining headache? I get it from bouncy castles too- maybe I should just retire gracefully

Maidamess · 02/04/2008 23:15

I remember vividly when I last jumped on a trampoline. it was at my circuits class, just before I wet myself .

Psychomum5 · 02/04/2008 23:16

I wanna trampoline

my boys love their friends ones and I would love to have one and save my beds and sofa's.

DH says no tho

SparklyGothKat · 02/04/2008 23:18

I get the trampoline headaches too. I am only 29 and can't go on the trampoline. My girls were trying to get me on it earlier today..

zippitippitoes · 02/04/2008 23:20

dss mates have now got two tramplines and bmx bikes with no wheels taped so that the sharp bits dont penetrate the tramploline and they go from one to the other

one does now however have a broken leg

but they ar 20

wiseweasel · 02/04/2008 23:28

Psychomum, get one anyway - i did and DH now says it's the best thing I've ever bought

Psychomum5 · 02/04/2008 23:30

may just start saving then

scotlass · 02/04/2008 23:33

Mmm, can play havoc with the pelvic floor
I did think about it but

  1. didn't want to be ending up with the whole street in our garden
  2. not really got enough room to have as well as a half decent garden
  3. DH said absolutely no way or it's a divorce!

The jury's still out.

wiseweasel · 02/04/2008 23:44

Have prevaricated for ages, worried about snarling up games of footie etc but now we've got it nobody cares - it takes up most of the garden but everyone loves it. Don't delay - trampoline today!
( I don't own the company)

Merlin · 02/04/2008 23:57

Where do I find a cheapish one?

there is a trsampoline with netsd in homebase for 99 quid at the moment

not sure of the size, its not huge so depends what you want

mckenzie · 03/04/2008 08:22

how big is big joshandjamie? I have been tempted for a while and your post has got me thinking again. Do you know what size yours is? I have two children too and would like them to be able to play safely on it together (as well as me once they are in bed!)

TIA

ChopsTheDuck · 03/04/2008 08:43

I love laying on ours sunbathing. They've really gone down in price now - we got ours from here for about £120. It's stuck in one corner of the garden so not too intrusive.

I was shocked at how hard bouncing actually is, it def burns the calories! The novelty has worn off a bit for mine, but they do use it a fair bit still. We leave it out all winter and they still go on it.

PussinWellies · 03/04/2008 11:22

Friend has just called, though, to say her daughter's 'sore leg' from bouncing yesterday is actually broken...

JoshandJamie · 03/04/2008 16:10

Yowser Pussinwellies - that's not good. Mckenzie, ours is a TP 12 foot (I think they're measured in feet - well it's the 12 regardless) in the sovereign range. You can also get 10 (which would be fine too) and the 14 which is absolutely huge and I can't imagine why you'd need such a big one unless you have 12 children who all want to bounce at once (and end up killing each other)

We bought one a couple of weeks ago. Naturally the first day after we built it the DC were on it all day.

The following morning we were woken up by DS (3) lying in bed shouting "Every bit of my body hurts. I can't move". Poor thing had really overdone it and used muscles he never knew he had !
