Is anyone else out there completely fed up with the new-type Huggies?
We have tried "Adventurers" and "Freedom" in the relevant size for our son over the past week and so far have had three leaking nappies, two bursts and one case of nappy rash, for the first time in his life (he is nearly 2 and might be potty trained sooner rather than later at this rate).
They are hopeless for us compared to the old type, and I wondered if anyone else was having the same problems.

I gave up on Pampers and Huggies a long time ago. I think they are overpriced and overhyped. We've been using Tescos own brand for a while now, from Midis to Maxis and now we are on Juniors. They are a pound cheaper than Pampers etc, you get just as many and they do the job! They fit well, the waistbands are a nice fibre, not plasticky, the tabs are good and wide, they fit nicely around the legs and they are very absorbant.

If you want to try one out, just take your baby into the changing room at your local Tescos - they provide free nappies in them (or at least they did last time I used them!).

marina, i saw the new Huggies the other day, but am at a loss as to how they differ and whether they are just more expensive?

Sml · 06/03/2001 11:08

I must admit I thought it was just a new marketing ploy.

Kate71 · 06/03/2001 19:58

Emmam, I agree, we often use Tescos nappies. Sometimes they are cheaper than Pampers even with the money off vouchers they keep sending.

The new Huggies are different. The ones aimed at older children seem to be chafing our not very bulky son; the ones which look like the old type are less absorbent and clearly thinner.
I think they are trying to get us to change them more often and spend more money so I will definitely try the Tescos ones next time.

Sainsburys and Boots brands both seem to suit my 18 month son. As for really expensive nappies, has anyone seen or tried Bennetton nappies? Very 'United Colours' with bright backgrounds and jazzy patterns all over them. If you feel like making a fashion statement, I guess they're it.

We've been using the Huggies freedom for a couple of weeks now and find them better than Pampers and their previous range. We are having less leakage problems and are dfinding a better fit. However, we have not tried the Tesco nappies so cannot compare.

I too am suffering from the new Huggie syndrome. In the last week I have had lots of exploding and very leaky nappies.Everything escapes out of the sides and they are less than useless

Paula1 · 08/03/2001 11:00

Has anyone rung the freefone number on the side of the pack and complained? I am a committed huggies user, but have quite a large stock of the old kind, so have not yet tried the new ones, but when I have had cause to complain before about them they have always been helpful and sent vouchers!

Housewife · 05/08/2001 20:07

Bit late to this one but I did send a message a few weeks ago registering my unhappiness with the new huggies to their web-site and they failed to post it or give a response. Has anyone got any feedback from Huggies as to why there seems to be all these problems with the new range?

I gave up Huggies long ago - they give my dd a rash on her back where the elasticated strip is (I hasten to add that this is the only thing which irritates her skin!)
Boots are by far the best for me - I manage to get quite a lot of them free too, with their advantage points and promo offers. It's surprising how much you spend in Boots without really noticing!

Joe · 08/08/2001 17:41

I gave up Huggies and disposables altogether when gel keep leaking from them and going all over my son. While chosing my cotton nappies I used George nappies from asda, I found them the best, but also used boots, superdrug all of which I found better than Huggies and Pampers. I now use Tots Bots and couldnt be happier.

Pupuce · 08/08/2001 18:34

I can't complain about Huggies though I'll buy Tots Bots for number 2. Huggies have never leaked with my son...
I was a member of their "club" but only received their stuff twice though I recommended it to several people.... I am not sure their marketing is 100% so I won't miss them !

Willow2 · 08/08/2001 18:50

Pampers seem to be following in Huggies footsteps and have re-launched Pampers Premiums as "active" - just about to start on a packet so will let you know just how active they really are.

Meow · 08/08/2001 20:18

Call me sad but i noticed all the new Pampers in tesco today and thought the new packaging looked great. My sister got some free samples of teh Easy UPs pull on nappies which her son loved -anyone else tried those?
